So where would Landon head to in the EPL that would be beneficial to him? He wouldn't play w/ Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal.

I jokingly suggested Fulham, but a mid-table team would be best. I doubt his style of play would fit well anywhere but Arsenal, and the Arse would never want him.

So, there you are. Newcastle, Bolton...Spurs. Reading. Someplace like that.

he could certainly learn a thing or two from berbatov

I think if he were to willingly go to the EPL, it would have to be a London-based side. I can't see him going to anywhere "out in the country", so to speak.

So that's who, Arsenal, Spurs, Fulham and Chelsea, right?

west ham too, i thought. and sometimes charlton.

"

Hmm...West Ham would be an interesting option.

I still doubt he moves overseas.

yeah, i always thought his remaining stateside was due to his girl. if that's the case, i'd have a hard time imagining her unwillingness to move a place like london, though that's clearly 100% speculation on my part. at this point, i hope he gets out of mls and into a more talent-filled league. i just don't see him getting any better here. maybe beckham will have some sort of positive influence?

regardless, though, he's gotta play to get better. no way he sees the pitch on a top level premier league team.

It's a very weak hope, but I hope the increased media attention and scrutiny the Galaxy will be under will help him get used to playing well under heavy expectations.

If that biffed header in the Chelsea game is any indication, it probably won't work out.

You mean the header that you'd have to try and miss?

That's the one.

Is there a suggestion that Beckham isn't used to stupidly high media expectations? Try reading the English tabloids when there's an international (especially an international tournament) coming up.

No, Donovan.

Sorry, I've been drinking and reading too quickly.

No. The suggestion is that Landon isn't used to it because of his choking in past highly publicized situations (Germany, World Cup '06 etc) and that maybe it will be good for him to see how Beck's handles himself.

For those who are Scottish Premier fans, Sirius Satellite Radio has signed a deal to carry all their games. The first one is this Saturday at 9am eastern.

Its Hearts - Hibs this weekend, too, so Scotland's starting with a bang.

Had my first game this season at the McAlpine last night. Town beat Blackburn 2-1.

Can I get in on this hate for Italy too?

All are welcome. Where's that photoshop of Totti going off the diving board? Also, I probably hate Gattuso more than any other player in the world.

More than Blanco or Oswaldo Sanchez? Or pretty much any player on the Mexican team, for that matter.

And they pick the worst possible time. There's no way I'm taking my eyes off the Bears/Chargers game.

Time to move out of amish country ;-)

I have DirecTV, though, and even though I also have a two-tuner DVR, the apartment building won't let them run two cables from the satellite dish. So I'm screwed.

I'll just have to download it, I guess.

Here's some more specifics about Adu's move to Benfica.

I can't wait to get started," said Adu, who's moving from Real Salt Lake to 31-time Portuguese champion Benfica for a $2 million transfer fee. "Coach made it clear that I'll be a pretty big part. If they're going to spend that kind of money on someone, they're going to showcase them."

Adu, getting his things together at his suburban home in Maryland, will leave for Portugal on Sunday, with Benfica scheduled to begin play in a European Champions League qualifier Aug. 14 and start Portuguese league play the following weekend.

"I'm pretty sure I'll get thrown in right away," Adu said. "Then again, it's not a done deal. I still have to earn the right to be on the field."

Ooh, I had forgotten about Sanchez, he may have to be Arch Villian 1A.

See, I don't hate Sanchez. It's hard to hate someone who gets owned every time you face him.

I actually dislike Rafa Marquez much, much more.

We tailgated with a guy at the Gold Cup final that had made shirts that read "Anti-Sanchez Brigade" on the front and "Nobody Likes a Dirty Sanchez" on the back. I've got pictures somewhere that I'll put up.
