Landon would be a garbage EPL player. He's a guy who would be better in Spain or Holland. He's too small for the EPL.

I don't think this happens. I think it's just him saying "you never know".

Landon is small, but saying he is too physically small for the EPL is garbage. I'm not saying what US said is garbage, I'm just saying it is glossing over the most important fact. If he had the heart, he could play and play well at his size. It isn't that he is too small it's that he plays too small IMO.

He's not nearly physical enough was my point. If he had more of a Rooney mentality (who's not that tall) or even Javier Saviola, sure, but he's of slight build and I've never seen him physically outmuscle a defender.

Rooney is the perfect example, even though he is a bit more built than Landon. I don't want to say lack of heart, but I do think he could be more aggressive.

I really like Landon too. Despite his shortcomings, he is my favorite player, so I'd like to see him prove everyone wrong.

BTW, I thought Tim Howard move from Man U to Everton was the largest fee for an American player? How much was Clint's fee?

Dempsey's fee was $4m, which was the largest for an MLS player. I can't find what Everton paid for Howard anywhere, but his permanent deal was $3m.

Either way, it's way less than what Rossi got. Stupid Rossi. He's the striker we wish we had to partner with Altidore.

Arsenal would be the best EPL fit.

Arsenal sign young and develop, though. Donovan doesn't fit that bill. How about Newcastle? ;)

Landon wouldn't be able to handle living in Geordie-land.

Fulham could sign him, and then half their starting 11 would be US players.

I was looking for a figure, but it was £3,000,000, which is a lot more than $3,000,000 - around double.

I was going to suggest Bolton next. He might do alright at a middle tier Premiership team, to be honest. (Having said that, I've not seen him play for a long while)

Yeah, a mid-table team would be best, although I still think a Dutch team or a mid table La Liga side would be the ideal fit both for him and the team. He needs a team where he can play sort of withdrawn, or float from side to side.

Donovan still has pace, but lacks consistent focus and isn't that aggressive. Of course, he's still only 24 or 25.

Then I'd really have to go ahead buy that Fulham kit.

Btw, if anyone can link me to a #23 Fulham jersey I'd greatly appreciate it. I can't find one anywhere.

I think I read his fee was something like 6.5 million which broke Reyna's record of 6 million. Clint being the highest MLS transfer sounds right, although Eddie Johnson might break that.

Please no more talk about Rossi. I don't want to think about how awesome the potential US version of Teves and Messi would be like.

Turncoat striker Giuseppe Rossi was sold by Man U to Villareal for $14m Euro. That's the largest fee ever for a US born player, surpassing Dempsey's fee from Fulham.

For those not familiar with Rossi, he gre up in Clifton, New Jersey. His father was a 1st generation immigrant from Italy, and once Gio was 14 and everyone figured out how awesome he was, his dad moved him to Italy and sold him on playing for the Azzurri.

So screw him. He won't see the Italian senior side playing in Spain. I don't think there's ever been a World Cup player for Italy that wasn't in Serie A.

The only one I can think of is Vieri when he played for Atletico.

Edit: Coco when he played for Barca. Had to Wikipedia that one. I can vaguely recall him taking a blow to the head vs. South Korea and playing like dazed moron while Trappatoni failed to sub him.

Wait...Cannavaro played for Real Madrid last summer, right?

cannavaro moved after the world cup, and with juve being relegated the cirucumstances were a little different for an italian transfer from serie a.

Oooooh yeah. I forgot about Juve going down to Serie Q.

That was post-WC. he didn't transfer until late July, IIRC.

B. Where they got their points punishment more than cut in half, and are already back up.

I hate Juve.

I read that Pierluigi Colotta is going to be assigning the officials this year in Serie A.

I also read that attendance was down last season in Italy, and that Italian soccer is in terrible shape. Which is weird, since Italy and AC Milan won both major competitions the past 2 years.

Yeah, Collina is the designator. Some of the guys at the big clubs aren't happy about that. it surprises me that they have such an air of impunity that they can bitch about the best ref Italy has ever seen getting the designator job.

And yeah, Italy has had an attendance problem for a while now. Pretty much none of the teams sell out, except for derbies. it's partially due to the seating arrangements, which suck (tons of expensive seats that nobody buys), it's partially due to the danger of the tifosi, and it's partially due to the fact that Italians are really, really jaded.

I refuse to admit Italy won the World Cup. They lost against Australia as far as I'm concerned.

Please. Fabio Grosso had his ankles chopped off.

I've never seen an Italian go down without contact...

If you want.

I don't necessarily hate Italy. I hate Gio Rossi, and I hate the fact that we beat them 2-1 with 9 guys, but officially the score was 1-1.

And I hate the fact that Italian players act like a sniper dropped them whenever a defender is within 2 feet of them.

EDIT:

I also hate cattenacio. I never liked Christian Vieri. I do, however, enjoy gellatto.

So where would Landon head to in the EPL that would be beneficial to him? He wouldn't play w/ Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal.

I jokingly suggested Fulham, but a mid-table team would be best. I doubt his style of play would fit well anywhere but Arsenal, and the Arse would never want him.

So, there you are. Newcastle, Bolton...Spurs. Reading. Someplace like that.

I think if he were to willingly go to the EPL, it would have to be a London-based side. I can't see him going to anywhere "out in the country", so to speak.

So that's who, Arsenal, Spurs, Fulham and Chelsea, right?
