Are you listening, Leeds fans?

I heard Leeds sold their fans to Man U for a record 16.5m pounds.

nah, they took less because Man U could get them immediate cash, which they had to have for their impending debt payment.

Toronto FC has the best fans in MLS. Watching them chuck streamers at LD during every corner was fantastic.

Is it on youtube? You can YouTube the clip of them doing it to Blanco. He took the corner while still wrapped in some of them.

So it's good to throw stuff at players in futbol?

streamers. It's funny.

I don't know if it's on YouTube, but LD was getting pissed. He was absolutely covered in them, and the first corner he took while being bombarded he shanked.

Hilarious. So those of you scoring at home:

Streamers=Funny

Bags of Urine=Bad

They did the same to Blanco for a good 45 seconds. Blanco just patiently kept trying to clear them away. Eventually he just gave up and kicked it anyways.

Reminds me of a routine Jasper Carrot used to do about the "Main Road Neanderthal"

They're not allowed to receive transfer fees yet, as I understand it. Not that I'm keeping a close eye on the situation. Not until the whole CVA is worked out.

Szetela is going to be headed to Roma.

Wow, good for him. Our U-20's really made an impression on some people. I like this move-there are worse central midfields to learn from than Totti/DeRossi.

This is awesome, I really like Danny.

Seth, any thoughts?

Effing awesome. He'll almost definitely get loaned out in January unless there's a fair number of injuries

He's got some decent competition going forward. Between De Rossi and Aquilani, Roma probably has the two most promising young italian midfielders alive.

that's great news. i just hope these clubs either give these guys a chance or loan them out until they can play regularly.

I'd bet money Roma loans him to a Serie B side so he can play 1st team minutes

If he's good, I call Lecce. If he isn't, I call someone else.
Lecce fan, eh? I mostly prefer southern Italian teams to northern ones, so I'd be cool with that.

That being said, I'd venture a guess that Chievo gets him. They'd been in Serie A for the last 6 years and were relegated on the last day last year. They also have a very cozy relationship with Roma, with Matteo Brighi, a defensive midfielder, having been recalled by Roma this year after being on loan to Chievo for the last 4. Totally a guess, but it's fun to speculate.

I like Lecce because its a place I've always wanted to go - it was scheduled on my inter-railing last year, but we ended up crossing at Bari instead (much to my annoyance) - its meant to be a beautiful, beautiful city. What better reason could I have to go than football?

Matteo Brighi - Did he start at Juve? I seem to remember him from there.

yeah he was at juve. Used to be a huge prospect but he's not totally panned out. Also he's a left-sided player. Not sure how I screwed that one up.

DeMarcus scores in the 81st to lead Rangers to a Champions league qualifying win 1-0 over Zeta.

It would be nice to go into the Hex with an in-form DMB.

EDIT: Is he still the only American player to score in Champions League play?

Did John O'Brien never get a goal with Ajax?

Feilhaber to Derby?

Feilhaber could move to England

Posted: Tuesday August 07, 2007 02:18PM ET

Premiership risers Derby County are hard at work on negotiations to lure Hamburg midfielder Benny Feilhaber to England on a transfer. With HSV no longer willing to loan the U.S. international out, Rams manager Billy Davies is making a push to bolster his promoted squad with a purchase. With German daily Bild reporting that the transfer fee should fall in the $2 million range when the clubs sit down to talk, Feilhaber agent Henner Janzen has revealed that his client is close to an agreement on the personal terms.

Oooo, I like this move for Benny.

What's most exciting is that I'm legitimately already anticipating possible snubs that I'm going to be really pissed about for the Confed and World Cup rosters. Last year was pretty weak. Try as I might, I couldn't get myself too worked up over who was more deserving between Ching, Twellman and McBride. The fact that we are going to have legitimate position battles between world class players is going to be awesome.

Me also. It doesn't appear that Hamburg's enthusiasm for Benny has jumped like it should, so they should get rid of him.

It would appear the mid to low tier premiership teams are finally realizing that Americans give you so much more ability for their $ than any other players in the world. This is going to be the trend from here on out I would think. About time people caught on.
