there was some ugliness in beasley's champions league match.

A small section of fans made "monkey chants" aimed at Beasley and teammate Jean-Claude Darcheville, according to Rangers' Web site.

"It happened to me a few years ago when PSV played Red Star in Belgrade, and I can't believe racist abuse is still in football," Beasley was quoted as saying on Rangers' Web site. "People can come to a match and jeer, but the racist thing just has to get out of football."

"It sickens to hear these chants, but when you are on the pitch, you have to try to blank it out," Beasley was quoted as saying. "It degrades the game for everyone. I will discuss the situation with Rangers because I feel strongly about it, and we will decide if we should file a complaint."

Congrats Yugoslav republics. You are all idiots. I'm glad DMB eliminated your crap team.

Sincerely,

just a reminder for those guys in the premiership fantasy league that the season opens this saturday.

i just made a change to my formation to a 3-5-2, you all are going down.

http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

serves me right for picking my team as early as i did, as I now have 3 players out injured already. (lennon, woodgate, stelios giannakopulos) and must sit down and figure crap out again

EDIT: I'm in a 3-4-3 now that i've made my transfers

Good thing I checked this thread, I had no idea we could change formations(I don't think I'm going to though), and I didn't know Lennon was down.

i didn't know you could either. when you first pick your team, by default it gives you a 4-4-2. i was skimming the rules for scoring, etc. and then it said you can change formations. my 3-5-2 utilizes my strength in the midfield, and softens my weakness in defense (especially with terry out at least a month).

Me neither, damn have to make changes now.

-Benny F. got his work permit, so he'll be set to play for Derby.

-Beckham made his MLS debut last night in the 73rd minute for the collection of garbage that is the LA Galaxy. It's very, very telling that despite being injured and unfamiliar with his teamates, he's already easily their best player. I counted 3 world class passes from him that his teamates managed to completely squander. 46,000 showed up at RFK, the higlight being the banner hung by DC's fan group that said "We Sing Better Than Your Wife".

yes yes yes .. definitely read the rules, esp as they pertain to scoring (don't forget your captain), formations, costs of transfers, and auto subs. wait, i guess that's basically everything. go and read all the rules, cuz when i dismantle everyone, i don't want no excuses!

Feilhaber to Derby?
Feilhaber could move to England

Posted: Tuesday August 07, 2007 02:18PM ET

Premiership risers Derby County are hard at work on negotiations to lure Hamburg midfielder Benny Feilhaber to England on a transfer. With HSV no longer willing to loan the U.S. international out, Rams manager Billy Davies is making a push to bolster his promoted squad with a purchase. With German daily Bild reporting that the transfer fee should fall in the $2 million range when the clubs sit down to talk, Feilhaber agent Henner Janzen has revealed that his client is close to an agreement on the personal terms.

Oooo, I like this move for Benny.

Me also. It doesn't appear that Hamburg's enthusiasm for Benny has jumped like it should, so they should get rid of him.

It would appear the mid to low tier premiership teams are finally realizing that Americans give you so much more ability for their $ than any other players in the world. This is going to be the trend from here on out I would think. About time people caught on.

speaking of this, does anyone have a current list of american players in europe with their current teams? i found one from 2006, but clearly that's outdated.

Good lord is LA terrible. Just terrible. I'm not sure how they've won 3 games, honestly.

I'm not quite sure why AEG keeps letting Alexi Lalas run teams into the ground. He's the worst GM in professional sports by a mile.

Did you see Nesta retired from international play?

Yeah, it was to be expected. His niggling injuries have gotten worse and worse over the last few years.

Jesus christ Lalas has done the worst butcher job I've ever seen by someone with his resources. Worse than Isiah Thomas and the Knicks.

You bring in the spark that is supposed to ignite american soccer's powder keg and you pair him with a bunch of club footed butchers and Landon Donovan? What a disservice. He was clearly seeking out Landon with some of those services but Landon was getting at least double marking in the box. Unfortunately, everybody else playing up would be better served playing in a rec league than MLS.

Not 100% sure, but probably mixing his name with his expertise on aerial balls.

That's it.

Brian McBride will lead Lawrie Sanchez’ side out at the Emirates on Sunday and the Manager revealed the factors behind his decision to name McBride as his Captain on Friday afternoon.

“Brian’s the new Captain for the season and he’s an excellent professional. I didn’t want to give it to someone who’d just come into the Club and he was head and shoulders above other candidates after Michael Brown left.

“He’s a great professional and elder statesman in that respect but you wouldn’t realise it on the pitch. He covers more ground than anyone else – and he’s someone that is respected by the other players.

There was an opportunity after Michael left to look around and I just thought it’s something that would suit Brian at this stage of his career."
