Good to see the Cubs are working hard to get these important things taken care of, now with this appeal out of the way, hopefully they can get back to the seemingly less important task of putting a winning team on the field.

An official scoring change eight weeks after the original ruling lowered Cubs right-hander Greg Maddux's ERA by more than a third of a point.

Scorer Ron Jernick said he made the change this week after the Cubs appealed the May 24 ruling to Major League Baseball, which asked him to review the decision.

Maybe you were just being facetious (if so, proceed :)), but I really don't see any opportunity to criticize the Cubs here.

I think the point was that management is wasting their time on things that really don't matter much in the grand scheme of things instead of trying to fix this mess they've created. Not that Hendry is necessarily the guy responsible for this, but that the focus is in the wrong place.

I'm sure that Maddux appreciates it. I remember watching that game and thinking those runs shoulda been unearned. This is not the kind of thing that takes a lot of time. It's an appeal. There's nothing to criticize here.

Maybe next the Cubs can appeal to have an asetrik placed next to Dusty's managerial record this season explaining about all the injuries he has had to endure.

Yeah. Their big supercomputers are tied up running statistical analyses. No multitasking.

I heard they are tossing around the notion of letting Dusty use the internet.

I dont want to see him go.. he is helping the youngsters out.

but what I want doesnt matter.. and I know that.

Is there any real validity to his "helping the youngsters out." I'd have preferred if he helped the team more by not sucking since the beginning of May.

One pitcher can not carry a team..even if he hat 12 or 13 wins right now we would still be at least 10 games under .500

But if he were so good at helping the kids as well as pitching good himself, shouldn't our team ERA look much better?

My so what is that I think it is a myth that Maddux helps out the young starters. I'm sure he mentions this and that, and maybe it offers a bit of help, but I don't think that help is a substantial improvement at all, and surely not one that should be any reason not to get something for Maddux at the deadline.

I think he should definitely be traded, but I also think that he certainly helps our youngsters out a lot. Who do you think they listen to more - Maddux or Rothschild? During a game a few weeks ago Len said that someone, Marshall I believe, had sort of latched onto Maddux from the moment he got up here. I don't think it's a myth at all that Greg has given our younger pitchers a lot of advice on how to be a successful major league pitcher.
