  1. Corrected..... They're $45 a ticket and I'm just hoping someone will be a foolish enough to buy them from me for face value. All joking aside, I hope everything goes well with the surgery.
  2. We all know that isn't going to happen. If a team can sweep the Cubs, they are clearly a great team. I guess you don't remember how well Arizona played last year after they swept the Cubs.
  3. June 23, 1984 (i.e The Sandberg Game) I was 7, so unfortunately I don't remember much of anything (and I was a Dernier fan so I probably was more focused on him). I still have the ticket stubs from the game. It is my goal to get them autographed by Sandberg, but I am afraid to send it in the mail.
  4. It was sent at 2:12 CST :D
  5. Someone might want to explain to LaTroy that the punchline of a "joke" is supposed to be on the back of the shirt (i.e. We survived Ike on the front, Bud killed us on the back). Oh well, LaTroy never struck me as the most intelligent guy in the world.
  6. First name basis story...... I had standing room only tickets for game 3 of the Cubs/Braves '98 NLDS game at Wrigley. Following the game, my friends and I were still in our "seats" standing near the entrance to the press box/suites and Bud Selig walked by. As he walked by, I said "Hey Bud, get rid of the DH," and without missing a beat, he turned around and said "Ok". Unfortunately, he has yet to follow through on his promise to me.
  7. If the division does end up in a tie, Marquis would be scheduled to start on Monday in the one game playoff versus the Brewers at Wrigley. I say Lou, skips Marquis and starts Trachsel based on his experience in one game playoffs as a Cub. Sure he has been terrible lately, but we know the Cubs won that game in '98 and if I recall correctly, he didn't even give up a hit!
  8. Would you rather he just went straight to the clubhouse after the game and sat there? I know Neifi sucks, but your logic isn't much better.
  9. You're right. I didn't catch all of it, but he was focusing on the fact that Cubs management doesn't have a plan (everyone here knows that). They referenced the 'base-clogging/OBP' quote and as expected stated that is was a comment that made no sense. He said that everyone in baseball (except Jim Hendry maybe) is aware that Dusty isn't a good on field manager and that management owes it to the fans to come out and tell them what their plan is both in the short term and long term. Doubt it will happen, but it would be nice.
  10. If the Cubs can pull this one out, maybe Phil Rogers can write another article about an "all hands on deck win" and why Dusty deserves to stick around.....
  11. Hard to argue with him after these last three games......
  12. Disgruntled, Not to be rude, but you may want to check out this page when you get a chance..... ; ) http://www.wikihow.com/Detect-Sarcasm-in-Writing
  13. Hard to say, they don't usually make a big deal about those games, so if you aren't really paying attention you can totally miss them.
  14. Maybe next the Cubs can appeal to have an asetrik placed next to Dusty's managerial record this season explaining about all the injuries he has had to endure.
  15. Good to see the Cubs are working hard to get these important things taken care of, now with this appeal out of the way, hopefully they can get back to the seemingly less important task of putting a winning team on the field. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060719cubsmaddux,1,5003999.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  16. ONE The over/under number on the number of starts Theriot gets during this stint. I personally will take the under.
  17. "I know everybody else wants us to go to Iowa [to call up Hill]," Baker said. "Maybe they'll get their choice. But be careful what you wish for, right? Wasn't that what everyone was saying just [saturday]?" I am not sure what Dusty is trying to say, but I am quite certain it is another shot at Hill and the "kids".
  18. At the All-Star break, there will only be 1.5 years left on Neifi and Rusch's contracts!
  19. While I would have to agree with that statement, you are forgetting that Dusty was on deck when Aaron hit 715. He deserves an extension on that alone. Give him three more years!
  20. Of course they wouldn't tell their pitchers......shhh it's a "secret"
  21. "We have more speed on the infield now, guys who use their legs like Juan [Pierre] and Freddie Bynum and Tony [Womack]. You saw in Florida how much quicker that surface was. It really helped the speed guys." Just a quick recap of how much it really helped the speed guys in Florida. Dusty must have been watching a different game then me. Note: Since speedy Womack wasn't on the team, I included speedy Ronny Cedeno in this recap figuring the quicker surface would have probably helped him as well. Game 1: 9-1 Loss Possible Quick Surface Help: 1 Single to center by Pierre Pierre: AB1 - Bunt out to the catcher (0-1) AB2 - Popped out to the shortstop (0-2) AB3 - Doubled to deep right (1-3) AB4 - Singled to center (2-4) Cedeno: AB1 - Grounded out to second (0-1) AB2 - Popped out to first (0-2) AB3 - Grounded out to second (0-3) AB4 - Struckout (0-4) Bynum: AB1 - Grounded out to second (0-1) AB2 - HBP (0-1) Game 2: 5-4 Loss Possible Quick Surface Help: 1 Single to Center by Cedeno Pierre: AB1 - Grounded out to pitcher (0-1) AB2 - Grounded out to pitcher (0-2) AB3 - Grounded out to shortstop (0-3) AB4 - Struckout (0-4) Cedeno: AB1 - Singled to center (1-1) AB2 - Struckout (1-2) AB3 - Grounded out to shortstop (1-3) Bynum: AB1 - Struckout (0-1) Game 3: 9-3 Loss Possible Quick Surface Help: None Pierre: AB1 - Walk (0-0) AB2 - Flied out to center (0-1) AB3 - Grounded out to second (0-2) AB4 - Strikeout (0-3) AB5 - Grounded out to second (0-4) Cedeno: AB1 - Strikeout (0-1) AB2 - Flied out to right (0-2) AB3 - Strikeout (0-3) AB4 - Flied out to left (0-4) Bynum: AB1 - Grounded out to second (0-1) Conclusion: Another case of Dusty making things up to take the blame off of him and his players. It's the grass not his terrible hitting team.
  22. "I tried to tell you guys last year, that Dempster was more suited as a starter. We need to find a way to get LaTroy back here closing games. Oh yeah, and when we get Prior back we will be better."
  23. Dusty: "I had young Ronny Cedeno penciled in for the two spot, and our veteran leader Neifi in the 8 spot. I went to grab a bite to eat in the clubhouse, and when I came back I saw someone had snuck in and switched the two. On top of that, it was written in pen so I couldnt change it and I didnt want to waste company money filling out a new one, so I went with it. Someone played a nasty trick on me, but I am not getting down, you just have to chalk it up to bad luck."
