As expected Scoop Jackson managed to write a really dumb article about this.

I had trouble following it. I didn't even understand what he was talking about.

I question his command of the English language.

Oden and Ben are not the same player. You can play Ben at PF and Oden at C if it comes to that. But any talk of the Bulls getting Oden causes me to black out from temporary insanity over how good we'd be so I don't want to think about it now.

So then you can have two offensively challenged players on the court at the same time? I realize that Oden isn't as bad as Wallace but he's been built up much more for his defensive ability than offensive. Oden definately needs to put in a ton of work in that part of his game. Not saying that Oden can't play offense and will never be good offensively, but he does need to show a huge improvement to be a star in the NBA.

How much have you seen Oden play? The way you are talking, I'm assuming you've scouted him pretty extensively.

Yes I have seen Oden play a couple times and have read about him as well. The guy is seven feet tall and should be absolutely dominant at the high school level seeing as he usually posts up just a few feet from the basket and was being guarded by guys 6 inches shorter than him. Again, I'm not saying that he won't be a great NBA player, but annointing him as the next great star in the NBA is foolish.

I think he was trying to say that the Bulls promised Wallace they'd bring in Garnett if he came and failed to do so and thus this signing is a failure and waste of money.

I usually just skim his stuff as it hurts to read it.

From what I've read in scouting reports, his post moves are lacking - but I think some time at OSU (even with the wrist injury, he should get a few good months) will help him there.

Either way, I'd prefer to draft him over Kevin Durant and Joakim Noah.

I agree that you have to draft him if you have the chance to like the Bulls might next year, but annointing him as a surefire NBA star is wrong.

He basically said that this isn't a good deal unless the Bulls get somebody to score 15ppg to replace Tyson Chandler.

Ok, so I did understand it. I grow weary of his shtick.

I'm surprised he didn't use some sort of elaborate system to prove that this was the first time since Rodman that the Bulls brought in a marquee black guy to play for the team.

I'm not sold on Oden until he actually dominates at the college level. Dominating at high school is something Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry did.

Yeah, Lebron James, too.

Congratulations for citing the one inarguably brilliant high school player in the NBA. Need I list all the "can't miss" highschoolers who burnt out? Or the fact that Kobe Bryant was a mid first rounder? You just don't know.

And as someone else said, comparing a guard/forward's talent in high school to a seven footer is apples and oranges.

Did you intentionally cut out the rest of 1908's post because it proved the first half of your post wrong?

It's a moot point with the new collective bargaining agreement, but high school players had a higher success rate in the NBA in terms of developing into stars and a nearly identical three-year development window to college players.

No, I'm not ignoring it. I'd like to see some actual numbers to back this up though. There is also a matter of sample size here, as many, many more college players were drafted in the same span as a smaller group of high schoolers, and clearly only the best of the best high schoolers would even declare.

Do you have any numbers to support your claim that high school big men fail at a higher rate than college big men? Or does that standard just apply to me?

I'm not asserting that Oden will fail. I'm just saying that it will take more than dunking over/blocking the shots of other high schoolers before i'm convinced he's the next coming...

That's fine. It also has no bearing on Oden's ability to succeed in the NBA.

high school centers are so hard to place because any seven-footer will be dominant against some 6-4 catholic-school kid.

Unless it's Eddy (2 FGs) Curry against my alma mater.

My alma mater fell one game short of getting a shot at Oden in the Indiana state finals this year, but they'd have fared no better than Muncie Central did.

That reminds me of the time he wrote an entire article proclaiming how Stephen A. Smith getting his Quite Frankly show was actually a moment of great importance.

ESPN is reporting that the Chandler for PJ Brown and JR Smith deal is pretty much done. The players have been notified that the deal will be officially done on June 12 when players can sign, and my guess is that the trade is probably contingent on Wallace actually signing.

Pax ripped them off in a huge way. I can't believe they got Smith also. That kid's ceiling is very high, and even if he doesn't fit with us, someone else will want him.

I'm assuming the Bulls will call it an offseason from here and the KG rumors will be put to rest. Without Chandler to trade, a deal for KG would be almost impossible.

So will PJ start at power forward or will he come off the bench with Nocioni starting at power forward and Deng at SF?

Don't they need somebody to score points?

Plenty of room on the sunny side of Chicago sports.

I can get behind that...but I'm good with what the Bulls have done.
