I'm assuming the Bulls will call it an offseason from here and the KG rumors will be put to rest. Without Chandler to trade, a deal for KG would be almost impossible.

So will PJ start at power forward or will he come off the bench with Nocioni starting at power forward and Deng at SF?

The latter scenario is much more likely. Smith will probably play a slightly more important version of the Eric Piatkowski role. I'm loving this team right now.

Don't they need somebody to score points?

Plenty of room on the sunny side of Chicago sports.

I'm ready for football season already.

I can get behind that...but I'm good with what the Bulls have done.

I don't know much about it, but it seems rather obvious they are still a long way from being a stud team without somebody who can score. Wallace sounds like a better version of Chandler's defense only game. An upgrade certainly, but not a guy who will take an already great defensive team that was mediocre overall due to inability to score, into a great team. Are they just expecting to win every game 79-78 or do they think one of their young guys is going to take a huge leap this year?

The natural development of these young players should call for all of them to make some offensive improvements this year. I feel like they do need to do something, but if they do nothing for the rest of the offseason they are a better offensive team just by the mere fact that all four of their core players should be better with maturity.

Also, PJ is an offensive upgrade over Malik Allen and Ben Wallace is a slight upgrade over Tyson's offensive production last year.

I would not have been opposed to making a run after Garnett, but he and Wallace together would have been a major dent in the salary cap. Now, without Tyson's big contract to give to Minn., that idea is not really possible.

The Bulls weren't as bad offensively as you make them out to be. They finished 6th in the East in scoring and 13th in the NBA at 97.8ppg last year. Not great but not terrible.

My Garnett dreams have been squashed.

I don't think that ever had a chance, but if it did, this doesn't change anything. In fact it gives us more pieces to move.I suspect Minnesota would rather have PJ Brown for 1 year and then $8M in cap space to sign free agents than Chandler at 5 years $54M.

Brown (cap space)-Deng-T.Thomas is a better offer than Chandler-Deng-T.Thomas.

I don't see it happening now though, nor did I ever. If it did you have an NBA championship team.

PG Hinrich, Duhon

SG Gordon, Thabo

SF Nocioni, JR Smith

PF Garnett, Allen, Kryopa

C Wallace, Sweetney

did anyone else see this classic quote from Chandler, reference to being traded?

"It's a great basketball opportunity to play with a bunch of young, up-and-coming guys. That's the thing I'm excited about. They're moving the team in a direction that fits me well.

How is that any different than the Bulls the last couple of years?

As Bill Simmons and many other NBA gurus will tell you, the 3rd year is when many guys start really hitting their stride. Kirk had easily his best year yet last season in his 3rd year, and four of our best players (Gordon, Duhon, Nocioni and Deng) are entering their third season this year. It's not a stretch to think that at least three of them will improve this season, two of them significantly.

Have I mentioned that I'm stoked we didn't even have to give up Malik in the Tyson deal?

Bulls released the names that will take part in mini-camp to see who goes to the Summer League in Orlando. Nice to see two UIC guys in there, especially Cedric Banks. He's an exciting player that I got to watch in person many times. Played in Europe last year, hopefully he can get a spot on the D-Leagues some where.

Yeah, and Noc really stepped it up late last year. At worst, we have improved at least a little. At best, Deng, Noc, Gordon turn into great players/stars and we make a run at a championship.

I am going to miss Tyson though. I loved the energy and enthusiasm he brought. I know Big Ben will bring that energy and Brown is a great vet for the locker room (like AD was a couple years ago) and Smith has nice upside, but I will still miss Tyson. These moves by Pax have been brilliant and I can't wait for the season to start.

Anyone think anymore moves will happen? Do we have any money left or are pretty much maxed out?

As Bill Simmons and many other NBA gurus

Bill Simmons is an NBA guru?

Nah. Bill Simmons isn't a guru of anything other than writing Boston-centric, poorly researched articles filled with boring pop culture references and analogies.

You are right about the third year thing though.

I liked Tyson too. However, when you consider he started 50 games and played an average of 26.8 mins per game, and Big Ben started all 82 and averaged 35.2 minutes, you can clearly see the upgrade.

Part of the problem with Tyson were the injuries. He wasn't *always* hurt, but he often seemed slowed by a tweak here & a tweak there. It wasn't all that often that you could feel he was playing at 100% and had been playing that way for long enough that he was in a groove.

Big Ben seems to always play, and the double-digit rebounds will be like gold to our shooters. Having PJ in there can only help as well. I believe we're at the point where injecting a couple solid veterans can send this team over the top. Not saying it will definitely happen, but I'm on board with the direction Pax is going.

Yeah, I totally agree that Ben Wallace is an upgrade over Tyson. Another big reason Tyson's minutes were much lower than Big Ben's is because he was constantly in foul trouble. Ben doesn't have that problem too often. I love the moves Pax has made, I'm just going to miss Tyson. Just like last year I said I was going to miss Eddy, but got over that pretty quick (thanks to Isiah ruining the team and giving us excellent draft picks).

I wouldn't necessarily call Bill Simmons a guru but he is fairly knowledgeable when it comes to basketball.

Reports are the Mavericks have agreed to trade Daniels to the Pacers for Crochere.

Good trade for both sides.

Pacers get Marquis, who will be a very solid player someday if he can avoid injury, and Dallas gets Croshere, who will just replace Keith Van Horn, and provide better FT and 3PT shooting, and rebounding. Croshere is a FA after this season, so it's moreso just a cap move. Good job by Cuban preparing for next year's FA class that will consist of many great players, and it'll give him more money to extend Dirk and Howard.

Great move for Indiana but they're probably still the worst team in the Central (which says more about the Central than Indiana).

Sucks that the Bulls aren't in the Atlantic Division. But they'll still do well regardless. BOOOOO to steve smith!

I can see every team in the Central making the playoffs for several years in a row.

I could see 4 making it, but there is no way all 5 make the post season next year. All you need is a key injury to Indiana or Milwaukee and they'll miss the playoffs. Same goes for Cleveland if LeBron gets hurt and misses an extended period of time. Too many things have to go right for this to happen.

Didn't all 5 make it this year? Besides, I don't see any reason why Philly, Boston, NY, Toronto, Orlando, Charlotte, or Atlanta would be better than Indiana or Milwaukee. Of course, if there are injuries to key players, one of the 5 might not make it, but I'd say there's a better chance for it to happen than not happen.

Piatkowski signd with the Suns.

The Bulls picked up Allen's option.

Songalia has filed for FA, but the Trib says there is a good chance he will be back.

Schensher could be back.

Harrington won't be back.
