Murton's ops is .538 & Cedeno's at .556. Combine that w/ Lee's injury, and Guzman and Hill's failure, and it's not a surprise the team's 5-16 in May.

Neifi and his .506 ops in May, and the kids haven't saved us. I guess the example of Atlanta in 2005 won't be thrown around any longer. The kids have taken the Cubs down the toilet in May.

The entire Cubs offense has disapeared in May. Why single out Murton and Cedeno?

Oh I know why, you're our freindly neighborhood troll.

Oh please. Juan Pierre, Todd Walker, Jerry Hairston, John Mabry, the entire bench, Glendon Rusch and Greg Maddux have all been just as bad, if not worst, than any of the kids.

that's a loose definition of "entire," but then again a person can't disprove anything, but I"ll try.

aram's @ .861

jones' @ .853

barrett's @ .798

pierre - his failure's have been trolled about ad naseum.

walker - thats been discussed too..

the bottom line is that the kids have sucked in may. the only decent one has been marshall. why shouldn't this be discussed?

The kids have??

Let's look at the vets OPS:

Walker .577

Pierre .530

Perez .506

Hairston .531

Mabry .499

Blanco .050

Maddux in May: 0-3, 22.2 IP, 32 hits, .356ba against, and a 7.48 ERA

But I can see why you're singleing out the kids!

Collectively this entire team has been horrible. Pin-pointing the kids is close to Baker-esque exuse-mongering.

The only people hitting in May on the entire Cubs team is Jones, Barrett, and to some extent, Ramirez. The rest have not hit. I'm not sure why you choose to point out Cedeno and Murton.

You wrote "the kids have taken the cubs down the toilent in may." It is simply not fair to blame the team losing on Murton and Cedeno, when there's many other players who could take as much more blame.

And Zambrano counts as a kid, right? He's 3-0 in May with a 1.50 ERA. and a 1.65 b.a. against.

I mentioned Lee's injury which encompasses neifi, hairston & mabry's pt. pierre has been discussed endlessly & thrown into the faces of those who supported the trade on a daily basis.

The bottom line is that the kids have sucked.

The bottom line is that the entire team has pretty much sucked for the majority of the season. Those who were hot in April have sucked in May. Those who are hot now sucked in April. Pointing fingers is redundant and useless.

how does zambrano count as a kid?

I brought up the 5 kids cause I'm ticked that Cubs system continues to suck.

attack the argument, not the person.

marshall's been good in may?

1-2, 6.15 era, 1.56 whip.

he's been bombed twice, but he did have an outstanding outing, so I'm not going to criticize him.

He's 24. Def a kid.

Your wrote that "the kids have taken the cubs down the toilet in may." Why didn't you start a post saying "maddux, pierre, and walker have taken the cubs down the toilet in may"? Surely, we should be relying on these three much more than Cedeno, Murton, and Marshall to pick up the slack of DLee, Wood, and Prior being gone. It shows your bias against the younger players to single out the play of Murton and Cedeno and blame the team's losing on them.

apparently, pierre & jones can be beaten like a deadhorse, but bringing up the kids' failure means banning?

interesting thought process.

ricky nolasco and renyel pinto looked pretty good last night.

oops, those guys are on the marlins now b/c the cubs just had to have pierre and his .276 OBP. my bad!

Pointing out Murton and Cedeno s splits hardly qualifies one as a troll. The truth is Murton has stunk as bad as JP this month along with t walk , cedeno , everyone but J Jones , barret and A Ram. The cubs have struggled almost amazingly. They are better than they have shown. I believe they are a combo of Injuries, bad luck, poor mixture of talent and no confidence in equal parts. All they can do is allow an increase in sample size and then "truly evaluate where they are.

you think they'd be pitching before guzman or hill?

that trade isn't looking good at all. :(

I don't think there's any reason to deny that Murton and Cedeno have been horrible this month. I think they should be singled out in the same manner that the others have been singled out-there's nothing wrong with that.

To claim that they are "leading the Cubs down the toilet" is just plain, 100% wrong. But to absolve them of responsibility or lump it in with "they're all doing bad" is no more than reverse-Dustyism: making excuses for favored players.

They deserve as much individual blame as do the rest of the players.

We gave up three pitchers, all of whom are pitching fairly well for Florida, for Pierre, who is putting up a worse OBP than Neifi did last season.

Jones has been doubled off second base three times this season on stupid baserunning plays. (It should be noted that many on this board have let off Jacque lately since it became clear that he needs a platoon partner and because he has a knack for clutch home runs.)

21 games this month so far. In 7 of those games, Cedeno went 13 for 29, Murton 10 for 24.
