People were booing him before his base running gaffes, which i thought were atrocious. Please dont insult anyones intelligence by asking if people make a living hammering dusty and certain players on this board. He sucks like many starters on many big league rosters including playoff teams. He has given the cubs two decent years as a starter. The rusch thing was not brought up by me , but by the vet police. I love any guy from our system who can produce. But hill lacks command so far in the bigs. If he does not improve it he will be a loogy at best. Coach L

I have no hate for any cub. I bring up Hill to keep it real and even the playing field. Yeah , its not level with some people, nor do i expect it to be. Thats human nature. Hill needs to show better command in the bigs , end of story . Marshall has very quickly and has kept the cubs in more games , than anyone except Big Z. Two things Goony. Rusch did not get a free pass. He got dropped from the rotation. The cubs were starting 3 rookies at one time. Rusch has also proven way more as a starter than Hill at the big league level over the past two years. The young guys dont get a chance in pitching is a huge reach. I have a problem with the staff command also. The bigger bottom line is the cubs need a healthy prior and wood on this team , or they are screwed.

Hills ills have to do with his lack of command . Quit blaming the coachs thats BS. Marshall has excelled in the same circumstances. Ive watched Hill a lot. Throw quality strikes and stay in the big leagues. End of story. Coach L

His contract is not out of line for his production. We will see. The cubs offense was horrid for a stretch with him hitting well. The left handed hitting options were few and far between. Hendry did better than i thought on this one. Look at our rivals choices Wilson and Encarnacion. The vet bashing gets [expletive] sometimes. Guys with 9.00 era s like Hill at 26 get free love from some while JJ got bashed for a contract that is not great but not way out of line. The hypocracy is interesting from some. Coach L

Pointing out Murton and Cedeno s splits hardly qualifies one as a troll. The truth is Murton has stunk as bad as JP this month along with t walk , cedeno , everyone but J Jones , barret and A Ram. The cubs have struggled almost amazingly. They are better than they have shown. I believe they are a combo of Injuries, bad luck, poor mixture of talent and no confidence in equal parts. All they can do is allow an increase in sample size and then "truly evaluate where they are. Coach L

Yeah , his 289 obp and 700 ops are awsome. Jones is 100 plus . JP has stunk , we will see how his obp turns out for the season compared to cp. If you hate thats fine. But the facts are CP stinks compared to J J . Coach L

J Jones has been the least of our problems the last 2week. I hope a more healthy pitching staff and some other guys like JP keep picking it up. Thanks for the splits , i thought he had been very strong against right handers . Thanks God thats mostly what you will face in the bigs. Coach L

Jones is hurt , i saw it in a paper blurb. Walker has been sucking air and tired. The only question i have is why not theriot for a go instead of Nefi. The Dusty bashing has gotten to the point people are either ignorant of facts like the above or they dont care and want to come across like all is lost whiners. Have at it. My brothers called me last night (they were at Pac Bell) We are all cub fans at different ends of the spectrum. My oldest brother is a Dusty s done guy who has little tolerance for any poor play or attitude. (he played pac 10 football, and i think he brings that mentality as a fan) My youngest brother ( who went to his rival college) is much more analytical and wanting to see the season play out. He like myself is not afraid to call bad what it is. However does not believe in blanket bashing of players and managers. I think it would take a continued horrific streak to get Baker fired. Im not in a hurry to see that happen. I want the cubs to play better. I agree with Goony on the point (it was well articulated) that the present management team has taken us from crappy to competitive. ( obviously we are hurt right now.) I also question whether they are the right group to get us the next level. I think all fans should try to enjoy there favorite team, inspite of the garbage play for the past 13 games. Questioning your teams moves is a fans right , i have done it since 1970 when i became a fan. But i personally tired of these guys getting me depressed when they sucked. That was me giving to much credence to results and i became to emotional watching the team. I guess im saying as a cub fan , part of the pride has to be the never ending journey from hope to dissapointment to hope again. May our paitence one day be rewarded. The problem with results is people as good as Phil Jackson lose the first round when they lack talent. End of freakin story. Coaching can make a difference ( in my case , i probably mess my kids up) But i think baseball less than any sport can account for less talent with coaching. Dusty is a very solid manager. Not the best not the worst. By the way Badger , i hate people like me , who defend others against ignorant attacks. Coach L

I agree with the Dude. The quotes people use to justify Dusty Bashing are ingnorant at best. I watch every game and he not only addresses problems. JP missing the cutoff man. He does like someone coaching men should do it. I coach high school kids . When something needs addressed i do it , but try to remain positive. If that does not work playing time is a great motivator. Ive seen the cubs pull Rusch and Williams out of the rotation . move the lineup around and try a varitey of ways to bring this team out of the doldrums. The truth is two fold. The talent level is lacking and The season has to be played out. Thats baseball. The other truth is if a team does not when enough people lose their jobs. Everybody understands that one. That being said Dusty is not perfect nor is he the boob , some people here try to make him into. Not on this team. Coach L
