I dont mind Womack if it means we can dump Hairston for anything..

Hairston >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Womack

Nah, Hairston needs to go. I'll take Womack on the bench if we can get something for Hairston. I've seen enough stupid baseball to last a lifetime...

Hairston is better than Womack, as bad as Hairston is.

Yeah I'd say Hairston is better than Womack but at least Womack plays smarter baseball. I'm tired of Hairston's ill-advised throws, his trying to steal with the pitcher up and 2 outs, his making the last out of an inning trying to steal 3b, etc.....

Is it too much to ask to know what you're doing on the field???

The Cubs have signed second baseman Tony Womack to a Minor League contract. Womack was designated for assignment by the Reds on April 25. In nine games with Cincinnati, he batted .222. In a 13-year career, Womack has played for the Pirates, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Cubs, Cardinals and Yankees. He has a career .273 average with 35 homers, 366 RBIs and 362 stolen bases. "He can play the outfield, he can pinch-hit, he can pinch-run," Baker said. "When we had him [in 2003], he was injured. We didn't see the real Tony Womack. His arm was bad, and he's apologized for that many times." Womack hit .235 in 21 games for the Cubs.

It's almost as if Hendry wants us to hate this team.

Or he is trying to bury Dusty, a la Angelo with Dick Jauron a few years ago.

Possible. I just don't have confidence in Hendry's ability to pick a decent manager to replace Baker. I can just see some retread that believes the same things Hendry does.

That 235 must look really good to the Cubs right now. I can't wait until the Royals release an old second basemen so the Cubs can pick him up.

You just can't have enough old ex Cubs that can't play anymore.

What is their reasoning for this deal? I just don't understand this organization sometimes.

This was my best shot to understand Jim being Jim:

if true, Hendry's real strategy comes to life.

1b Walker

2b Theriot

SS Cedeno

3b Perez

LF Bynum

CF Womack

RF Hairston

C Barrett (a converted middle IF)

woohoo. way to go Jim, everyone can cover 2b!

Are there any cool baseball teams that I can start liking? I am really starting to hate the Cubs.

The Tigers are still hot. Plenty of room on the Justin Verlander for AL ROY bandwagon!

That BandWGN crap has to stop. At least when I started it, it was the simple and classy "bandwagon".

I think I'm going to narrow it down to around 5 teams and pick them from a hat. It'll have to be an AL team, though. I grew to hate all of the NL teams more when I was a Cubs fan.

The White Sox are the new Cardinals. Just a suggestion.

This should really help my hacking mass team. Thanks Jim Hendry.

My only hope is that Dusty said the same type of things about Brian Boehringer that he did about Womack.
