So Womack sucks for us... goes to St. Louis and has a good year... then sucks for New York. So what does Jim do? Well, sign him to a contract of course!

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Don't forget that he sucked for Cincinnati too.

And for Arizona, and Colorado

Womack's OPS+ since leaving Pitt.

80, 72, 65, 73, 40, 51 (AZ), 4 (COL), 47 (CHC), 93 (STL), 47 (NYY)

73 is his career average

I guess this means the end of the Riot is imminent. Dusty refuses to play him, so may as well replace him with a crappy 2B that Dusty will actually use.

And of course, you have to know that he'll be up with the major league club before long.

Of the upcoming road interleague games, which stadium does Womack "know best"?

He's got a sub 600 OPS at both the Jake and the Metrodome, but I'm sure that pales in comparison to his experience of 30 and 38 at bats, respectively.

The Tony Womack of the lifetime .316 OBP, which is artificially inflated due to his magical season in St. Louis.

I guess Enrique Wilson and Rey Ordonez were unavailable.

Rey was, he just fumbled the phone and didn't have the strength to pick it back up.

Are there any "veteran", "speedy" and otherwise useless guys that the Cubs can pick up that they haven't had before? Seems like we have a monopoly on them...

Womack

Ordonez

Neifi

Pierre

Since 2002 besides Womack:

Delino DeShilds, Jose Hernandez, Jerry Hairston, Chris Stynes, Augie Ojeda, Ramon Martinez, Damian Jackson, Jose Macias, Neifi Perez, Rey Ordonez, Alex Gonzalez, Freddy Bynum, Enrique Wilson.

The list of crap middle infielders that were not developed by the Cubs farm system, but seemed to somehow land on the Cubs radar.

This is a done deal. Tony Womack to a Triple-A contract.
Thanks Bruce, as always. Any word on Aramis other than day to day?

Why? What possible reasoning is there for this? Why waste even a AAA spot on this guy? What on earth is Hendry thinking? Does this mean Hendry's thinking about dealing Walker when Lee comes back, and he wants Womack as insurance? Or is Hendry going to deal Hairston for scraps?

I can't think of one justification for this.

The only reason the speed and ball catching hasn't led to more wins is because they didn't have enough of it.

It's too bad they don't have team relay races. We would win for sure.

If they lost, it would only be because of bad breaks.

I completely blocked out Delino.

What a freaking joke. Why am I not surprised? Can't wait to see Tony at 2B batting in the 2-hole in a week or so.

THAT WILL GIVE US JUST THE "SPARK" WE NEED!!!

Can you imagine what kind of speed we'll have at the top of the order?

Womack and Pierre is close to the Furcal/Pierre combo that Hendry envisioned.

Don't some metrics consider Womack to be one of the worst hitters in baseball over the past decade or so?

But it's okay since he's SCRAPPY! We need some one who can bunt Pierre over!!!!!!!
