Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, the wonders of the Cubs front office never cease to amaze me in craptacularness.

In the imortal words of Nancy Kerrigan, "Why! Why!"

So, that's what that busy little bee Jim Hendry has been up to. Here, all along, I thought he was looking for someone who could make the team better.

Thanks, may I have another?

And I'm going to assume that Jim thinks this is a tremendous deal since he didn't have to give up anyone to get Womack.

In all seriousness (I hope not), I'm going to assume that Womack will be Bynum's replacement. Now that Bynum has improved his value, it's time to let him go.

So who wants to take bets on how long it takes Womack to make the team?

2 weeks I say...

Why would Tony Womack sign with the Cubs, who have like  30 people on the 40 man roster who can play 2b, when there are other teams who have ho----wait a minute...

Why do I get the sickly feeling that the Cubs were the only team to EVEN have interests in Womack? Apparently the career yr that Womack had in 2004, means he is getting better with age, according to Baker's logic....

It will be less then two weeks before Womack will be up with the Cubs. :(

Has anyone been able to confirm or debunk this yet?

You can take the question mark off the title:

Levine reporting on ESPN 1000 that Womack has been signed to a minor league deal.

In other news, JH continues to pursue Jurrasic Conine. Again, if he intends to use him in RF against lefthanders, I like the deal.

That's all I've got right now. But, it's enough for me to order up the party favors and invite all of my closest friends.

Reds GM: wow, we have tons of second basemen on this roster. let's let them play for a few weeks and get rid of the one performing the worst.

Pointless.

Fontenot should be playing there everyday, McGehee can play there plus if they wanted to Coats and Montanez are going to be hankering for playing time at AAA, and they're both (former) IF.

And of course, you have to know that he'll be up with the major league club before long.

I'm sure we could get Tom Goodwin to come out of retirement as well.

Anyone know what Randall Simon is doing these days?

EDIT: How about Doug Glanville?

So Womack sucks for us... goes to St. Louis and has a good year... then sucks for New York. So what does Jim do? Well, sign him to a contract of course!

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Don't forget that he sucked for Cincinnati too.

In his extremely limited playing time (18 at bats), he actually wasn't all that bad for Cincinnati this year. He still sucks though, and will likely suck even more since he's with the Cubs.

Why is he not a DH for some team like KC?
