Is that why he doesn't give autographs?

Wow, that's mind-blowing.

It was posted in the game thread from Sunday by Vance. Apparently he's the only Cub in 2 years Vance can't get to sign, and that was his given reason why.

Which is hilarious. I'd be willing to bet I could get more from my autograph on EBay than Neifi could.

It's a legit reason. Lots of guys don't like signing for adults because they think they're just out to make a profit. Lots of autograph hounds are real scumbags.

The flip I just thought was dumb, not arrogant. Neifi is always out on the mound trying to settle down pitchers, and has been both helpful towards Cedeno along with not raising a peep about not playing every day despite being paid like it.

If I got payed for more than what I was earning, I'd be pretty happy.

If your job was a professional athlete this'd be relevant.

I second this whole post.

The only part of the play that concerned me was the fact that it looked like an injury was about to happen. Neifi has certainly had some issues, but I'm not going to get on his case for flipping a ball in the air after a win.

Let's not make too much out of Neifi not signing. Yes, the streak of being shut out has now hit 14 games, but there's been other players as well that don't always sign. I also may just be catching him on a bad day.

just get an attractive lady to try next time, Neifi can't say no to the ladies.

Was it just me, or was that incredibly unnecessary? And I'm not talking about jumping in front of and over Jones to make the grab... I'm talking about his pompous little flip of the ball in the air followed by snagging it with his glove with a tough guy look on his face.

I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting because I hate him, but it just seemed awfully arrogant.

\

This is funny because a bunch of people were incredibly happy when Ronny Cedeno did some superfluous celebration when he made that catch in Los Angeles.

Yea, its probably fueled by hatred of Neifi, and is a double standard.

But you wont see me arguing. He's the 3rd worst hitter in the history of baseball.

Thats a bold accomplishment.

Neifi is a ladies' man.

Vance, you could always try to get Rubby to forge Neifi's signature.

You might have just caught him when he was playing that day. . . Yunno. . . . a "bad day". .

Neifi seems like a jerk. Seriously. Between his paranoia about people selling his autograph on Ebay to his Cedeno comments in ST to the way he carries himself on the field. He seems to have an inflated sense of self worth.

I would too if I got a 2.5 million dollar raise for sucking last year.

I would, too, if I were Rubby Perez's brother.

I kind of thought so, too. I was wondering why the heck Neifi didn't veer off -- it looked to me like it should have Jones's ball. I was having bad visions of two more Cubs on the DL for a moment.

Hey if we have to have two Cubs on the DL, might as well be them. I mean, it could be worse, it could be Prior, Wood, Miller or Lee on there. Oh wait...

:(

If any two guys were going to be injured, I would care the least of the two did, especially if they hit each other. Then again Jones is playing a little better. Did he really injure his hand high-fiving guys in the dugout after his homer?

How many people on this board would seriously be disappointed if Jones and Neifi would have collided on that play and been injured? I wouldn't have felt much for Neifi, but I'm giving Jones more time to turn it around and become a decent contributor.

I think its funny that the Cubs can win a ballgame in dramatic fashion, and all we end up with is a 3-page thread *****ing about a catch made by Neifi Perez. Just let it go.

Good news--Trib says Neifi will sit the last two games of the Florida series, Hairston will get the starts. That's (small) progress. Of course, this only means Neifi probably sits Cedeno at SS for the day game, dude has experience with the afternoon sun after all.

{Hatred for Neifi disclosure statement}

I thought it should have been Jones ball and he should have called for it, I thought he did. The flip didn't bother me but I just thought it was odd and the look on Jones face when he saw the ball flip up was priceless.

Hairston has hit .300 against Willis and should be able to see Olsen fairly well on Wednesday, so he should be starting. I would not be shocked to see ARam off on Wed if he continues to struggle. Mabry (if TWalk can continue to go) or the Neifury should start at 3b in that case. Look for Restovich to pop in one day for Jones or Murton.

What I am dreading is another night/day game switch....which means the White Out will be starting behind the plate. Mr. 091 is a lifetime .188 hitter in over 100 ABs against the fighting fish which doesnt bode well for us. Hopefully dusty will start him Tues nite with Marshall and let Barrett try and deal with the rookie Guzman on Wednesday.

i didn't think it was that big of a deal. sure, that should've been jacque's ball to catch, but the whole flip thing made me laugh a little bit. even after neifi caught the ball, jones was still looking around for the ball and all of a sudden he looks back and sees the ball still the air and neifi catch it. more like neifi just messing with jones on a very close play. nothing more, nothing less.

When I saw it, I just knew a t least one thread would pop up here to address it. We should just sticky a Neifi-hate thread next to the Morgan thread. I don't know anyone here who likes the way he is used or the fact that he is even on the team, but some people here take it a bit far, IMO.

Hahaha...Wow.

Judging by that rationale Zambrano should be committed.

For being intense on the field? I wish more players were that competitive.

If I saw it right, the 1st base Ump didn't actually show the "Out" sign untill Perez "caught" it the second time, could be wrong though, anyone else notice that?

If that is the case, how P.O.'ed would people have been if he had dropped his little "flip" ?
