If I saw it right, the 1st base Ump didn't actually show the "Out" sign untill Perez "caught" it the second time, could be wrong though, anyone else notice that?

If that is the case, how P.O.'ed would people have been if he had dropped his little "flip" ?

Can Neifi be hated anymore really? It would have been the Umps fault then, but likely, Neifi would be blamed.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I didn't mean it as a bash, was just curious if it had gone the other way is all. I'm just glad someone "caught" the ball

Neifi seems like a jerk. Seriously. Between his paranoia about people selling his autograph on Ebay to his Cedeno comments in ST to the way he carries himself on the field. He seems to have an inflated sense of self worth.

Hahaha...Wow.

Judging by that rationale Zambrano should be committed.

For being intense on the field? I wish more players were that competitive.

I'm not knocking Zambrano's intensity. I don't like it when Zambrano shows up his teammates, which has done on a few occasions the past few years. Those times when Z would jump and down and glare at a teammate who just made an error are what I'm talking about. Its not secret he rubbed some guys the wrong way with that kind of show.

That being said, I love the guy. he does have to watch that though.

As for your comments on Neifi, find a baseball player who doesn't have an inflated senese of self worth, especially one who has been playing as long as Neifi has.

Well, I wrote what I wrote last night in the midst of a bad mood, but Neifi does strike me as particularly irritating to watch on the field. I'm sure my feelings and my interpretations of his on-field mannerisms are colored by my general irritation with him being a Cub.

However, most ML players with inflated senses of self worth have accomplished more than Neifi.

I bet you AAA athletes are cocky.

Probably. I was a cocky college soccer player. But should the Trinidad Hubbards of the minor leagues be cocky?

I'm fairly certain that Perez could hit a GW HR in the 7th game of the World Series this year and people would find a way to criticize the way he ran around the bases.

He's a bad hitter. Leave it at that.

I have nothing to add to this thread.

If the irony was intentional, I applaud you for your subtlety. And even if it wasn't, well, it's still funny.

from the title of the thread and it being 4 pages, i thought thats what everyone was talking about. he flipped it so quick i thought maybe it wasnt a legit catch yet. maybe thats just because i'm a worrier. thats why they call me whiskers.

Was it just me, or was that incredibly unnecessary? And I'm not talking about jumping in front of and over Jones to make the grab... I'm talking about his pompous little flip of the ball in the air followed by snagging it with his glove with a tough guy look on his face.

I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting because I hate him, but it just seemed awfully arrogant.

The Neifi hating club is officially ridiculous...

I hate Neifi as much as the next guy (it should be pointed out that I hate more than Dusty's use of him, I actually dislike him), but I saw nothing wrong with his flip at the end of the game. It was an intense game with an amazing 8th inning rally, and he caught the ball to end the game in a near collision. No big deal.
