A wind blowing out to left-center isn't going to help Milton much. Let's hope he pitches like his first two appearances vs. the Cubs last year and not the next two.

And stay away, rain. My seats are too good and my cold won't tolerate a delay.

let's hope Z was as good as he was during the first 5 innings of Saturday's game. If he is, there's no reason why we won't win this series. We're due to rock Milton too...let's hope tomorrow is the day we do that :)

Go Cubs!

Prediction time:

Z goes deep 7-8IP.

Z goes deep 2R HR.

8)

I hope you are correct. I would be content with just the first one coming true. We need a solid start from Z to back up the solid start from Maddux.

This is a big early season game for the Cubs. If they win, it makes the sweep of the Cards that much sweeter (5-1 homestand) if they lose it is only a 4-2 homestand.

I expect much better out of big Z tomorrow. And hopefully they are paitent enough with Milton to let him work himself into some jams. If they give him enough pitches he will.

what is the cubs' record on WGN TV this year?

3-0 on WGN

1-0 on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball

1-2 on CSN

I THINK, that's from memory.

The more wins on WGN the more they'll be on next year, right? :pig:

Having class from 12:30 til 3 everyday sounded like a great idea when I registered... I'm such an idiot for not considering the Cubs factor.

I have middle of the day class as well. Fortunately I have some breaks so I can go to a computer lab and log on to NSBB for updates. This is my last quarter so I didn't have a choice on which classes to take. Don't you hate it when class gets in the way of your Cubs watching? I know I do.

Yeah, it sucks. But luckily my two o'clock class is in a computer lab, so I'm able to follow along on GameDay.

We are awesome.

Told you it would work when I did it. :)

Anyway, my wonderful schedule that gives me Tuesday and Thursday off after 12:15 pm lets me see this one. It's the only Cubs day game that my schedule specifically allows me to see all of, though.

Noteworthy Match-ups (Cincinatti Reds) Vs. Carlos Zambrano (Righty, 0-0, with a 4.22 ERA in 2006)

I think Z will be able to hold off the Reds... He has been most of the time.

Noteworthy Match-ups (Chicago Cubs) Vs. Eric Milton (Lefty, 1-0, with a 2.57 ERA in 2006)

I Really hope Ramirez is playing.

Cubs are 5-0 in loss-free games. GO CUBS!

Cubs are also 5-0 in non-Shawn Es-- I mean, in non-Glendon Rusch starts. Keep the streak alive!

Isn't that curious.... the CUBS are also 5-0 in games where they don't face Bronson Arroyo !!!

One of the more interesting Eric Milton/Cubs encounters ever:

http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07250PHI2004.htm

Milton had a no hitter going until:

Barrett doubled to shortstop

?!?!?!

then:

Grudzielanek singled to center

then:

Patterson doubled to left [barrett scored, Grudzielanek

scored]

Which mind you was about 5 feet from being a go ahead HR.

then:

Hawkins L(2-3) 0.1 1 1 1 1 0 0

Stupid Hawkins

Yes, I imagine Bronson Bonds-Arroyo had something to do with those other two as well...

I don't know why it says that, but I firmly remember that play because I was at a friend's and we went nuts when it happened. Barrett hit a fly ball that, to be honest, should have gotten Milton one step closer to his no hitter, except that Doug Glanville broke backwards on the ball initially before realizing it wasn't that deep. He then could not get to it on time. All other things being equal (the two K's after Barrett), Milton would've hurled a no-no that day - and it would've been the first against the Cubs since Koufax fired a perfecto against them way back in 1965.

Dear Eric Milton,

commence with the pants crappin'.

If Neifi gets the start, it will be Dusty's worst move of the year by far. in fact, if Neifi gets the start, Dusty should be shot. he and Blanco are the only guys on the team that don't pound Milton.
