Looks like Aramis won't be playing in this one...

Ramirez couldn't take batting practice Wednesday but swung a bat before the game to see if he could pinch-hit. Ramirez wants to try to play Thursday, but manager Dusty Baker likely will sit him until Friday as a precautionary measure. Right fielder Jacque Jones will also sit out until the weekend with a strained left hamstring.

Pray for some Neifimagic.

Noteworthy Match-ups (Chicago Cubs) Vs. Eric Milton (Lefty, 1-0, with a 2.57 ERA in 2006)

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/2170/miltonvcubs2hn.jpg

Dear Eric Milton,

commence with the pants crappin'.

If Neifi gets the start, it will be Dusty's worst move of the year by far. in fact, if Neifi gets the start, Dusty should be shot. he and Blanco are the only guys on the team that don't pound Milton.

Would you put Hairston at 3rd?

Cubs are 5-0 in loss-free games. GO CUBS!

Cubs are also 5-0 in non-Shawn Es-- I mean, in non-Glendon Rusch starts. Keep the streak alive!

Isn't that curious.... the CUBS are also 5-0 in games where they don't face Bronson Arroyo !!!

They're also 5-0 in games where they score more runs than the opponent, and 0-2 in games where they score less. :D

One of the more interesting Eric Milton/Cubs encounters ever:

Barrett doubled to shortstop

?!?!?!

The strange thing is.....I was hoping Barrett would homered to 1st base, but oh well...the double to SS was pretty sweet.

The Cubs are really only 1 game off of where they should be. When you score 6 runs (first loss) you expect to win. When you scratch together 2 runs (with the wind blowing out), you'll probably lose regardless of who is pitching for you.

Either way, win dammit!

Hey, bud.... you're stepping on my toes there !!

Oh, and btw..... they're also 5-0 in games when they take at least 1 walk.

That may be, but it's early in the season. There's no way they can keep that pace up all year.

Seriously, this is a real trend here.... last year, the CUBS were 79-0 when then scored more runs than the opponents, and the year before 89-0. Outscoring the opponents seems to be real important to winning; the CUBS should look into it further !!

I just googled, and I have yet to find a team that lost after scoring more than their opponents. I wonder if anyone in baseball knows this? Hmm, we should start a blog or something.

Looks like its 7 games into the season, and we're already going to have to deal with hobbled Ramirez...thats right, for the rest of the year he will be even slower and will randomly sit out 2-3 game stretches because his muscles are acting up.

So a typical ARAM year eh? The good news is this year we are deep enough to win without him for stretches at a time.

Huh? Neifi's in place of Aram, that should tell you all you need to know.

I didn't mean Neifi is equal to Ram, I meant that this team can score runs in different ways instead of relying on the long ball from Ram or Lee...

Mabry will get some of those starts when a right hander is on the mound. Neifi is playing because of a lefty being on the mound.

I don't know the exact lineup but The Score is reporting that Hairston is at 2B, Pagan in RF, and Blanco is catching (no idea who's at 3B).

Looks like it's another speed burner lineup. Well except for Blanco...

I read that too quickly. My first glance had you putting Blanco at 3B.
