  1. The Twins almost never trade prospects, especially not anyone highly thought of. It would never happen, but I thought Span would look good in Chicago.
  2. He's annoyed me with the Wood comments and the fact that he never beaned J.D. Drew after saying he would for not signing with the Phillies because they wouldn't give him a $10mil signing bonus out of college. That said if he has anything left, I think his swagger alone might be a big help to the team. Even if he doesn't start, I wouldn't be opposed to looking at him out of the bullpen.
  3. My thoughts exactly. He's not Peavy, but he should cost less and we don't have to gut the farm system for him. If we can still move Marquis, I would think we could get Sheets and Bradley. Yeah, you have the same concerns as Harden, but I would be fine with Marshall getting some spot starts.
  4. To tell the truth I like that move better than some others that have been discussed. Maybe it's because I'd like to see DeRo and Fontenot playing at the same time. Furcal would also give us a real leadoff hitter which is always nice.
  5. As I have said before Young is a puzzling player who has great talent and a $.05 head, but Theriot or Cedeno for him would be worth the gamble. Doesn't fill our LH OF need, but I'd still do it.
  6. Minnesota had probably the worst middle relief and set up men to try to get the game to Nathan. It was brutal to watch, so some of our guys that we aren't thrilled with might look absolutely fantastic to them. Kubel is definitely a player I'd be interested in. I'm not sure if I'd be that excited in "Dumb Dumb" Delmon. I wouldn't trade Marmol for him. Kid has a ton of talent, but his head is on backwards. Also, he can be an absolutely brutal OF.
  7. I thought Crisp for Marquis would've been one way to get rid of Marquis contract. Not saying Crisp would be great for us. I'd like DeJesus as well.
  8. This sentence is the exact opposite of logical. If he was young and his talent was catching up with him, the likelihood of last year being a fluke would be lowered. The fact that he is older and has been around is a negative. It's a gamble either way and you could argue both. I try to look at it as the last time he was a starter (before injury and being a closer) he did have a good season with the Marlins. I don't think he's going to duplicate this year, but I think he's going to be a good pitcher for us.
  9. Agree. I don't mind having him back, but a large 5 year contract isn't good. Taking less if we get Peavy is a good sign though.
  10. Agreed. Maybe a team option for the 4th based on incentives, but 3 would probably be it. He's risky, but at the same time isn't a bad fall back plan.
  11. I honestly think the players don't buy into the whole curse and choking as a whole. The problem is every offseason they get the fans and the media brining up 100 years worth of shortcomings and it just wears on them. The fans just go comatose waiting for the worst to happen and even in home games suck the life out of the team. Actually, I'm drunk and just looking for a reason for optimism.
  12. Unless you're 13 years old it's likely to creep you out. :-)) Taking a perfectly good thread in the wrong direction. Go Harden!
  13. I'm assuming since Marshall is the only lefty that Lou can trust they don't want to start him. Otherwise makes total sense to start Marshall. Heck I say let Lieber be #5 when he comes back. Heck maybe that's what Eyre and Howry need to do. Send them to the minors and stretch them out. Just so sick of the Marquis DeSuck
  14. To be fair, the vast majority of our runs this week have come 6th inning and later. true, but I wonder how far behind we will be by then with Marquis toeing the slab. A fair point, but in that case I don't know if that's a letdown as much as a sucky pitcher. I think Marquis pitching is synonymous with letdown.
