why does everyone get so excited for a squeeze?

Because it tells us that Dusty has at least some brain activity.

the squeeze is little more than a show off move for the manager. it's unnecessarily risky.

That's just plain nonsense. It's an effective way to score.

You have one of the game's best bunters with great speed at bat and someone with great speed on 3rd. Letting Pierre swing away was just as much of a risk.

yeah, that hit he got was terrible.

At what point do you think about getting Ramirez and his cranky body out of the cold and into the clubhouse?

I think he's in better shape than he was last year. If we get up 8-0 by the 7th or 8th I'd sit him.

Not with a great bunter like Pierre hitting. It's not very risky at all. .

you do realize that he ended up getting a hit, right? wouldn't you take that over a run scoring sac bunt or a rally killing caught stealing?

Did I say I wanted him to do a squeeze? I just argued against you, that it's not much of a risk when you have one of the best bunters at the plate.

so, when does Jacque get his first hit??

Another stinky AB - 3 pitches, 3 swinging Ks with 2 whiffs.

When do we start a Pagan BandWGN?

it's also an effective way to over think yourself into ending a rally.

And he just explained exactly why it is a risk.

Jones keeps pulling out...

And then not swinging..

I think Jacque Jones needs a chance of scenery.

Yeah, he needs a change of scenery after 2 at bats. Get rid of him!!!

I gotta disagree with you here. A lot of Juan Pierre's AVG and OBP is generated from infield/bunt hits. The chance to score the runner and be safe at 1st is pretty good, IMO.

I am not being critical of Ramirez, just trying to protect him for the long haul. I know he has worked hard.
