Thanks Raisin and those are the last top 1 teams in the country.

Lemmings top 100, although his opinion doesn't count for much (at least IMO)

I'll take 10 out of the top 100 (6 in top 50) for year 1 of Weis recruiting :)

They have 6 out of the Rivals top 100 and 6 out of the Scout top 100... I think those are both more credible sources, since Lemming is known to be a Notre Dame fan, which skews his rankings.

Also, it is now official... 4 star QB and top 10 QB (nationally) Pat Devlin has decommitted from Miami and will be attending PSU. Huge pickup late in the game... next up is one of the top OL prospects, Antonio Logan-El, announcing today, followed by a mammoth DL, Phillip Taylor. I think PSU could use Logan-El more, but he's probably about a 60% shot to go to Maryland. Taylor, according to many, has already verballed to PSU, so I'd put him at about 90% to PSU over Maryland.

WR Vidal Hazleton, who committed to USC on ESPNews, apparently is friends with Devlin and is reconsidering PSU. Rivals has Vidal as the #2 WR in the country.

Rough past few days of recruiting for Northwestern after losing two desired prospects to Vandy and Stanford. And a rough recruiting season as a whole so far, especially considering the season we're coming off of. Got a couple of solid WRs, a good looking QB who won't take long to learn the offense, a decent kicker, and one much needed defensive back. Not enough help on the lines, though. But the big part of the recruiting class is Mauro, who could earn a chance to be the team's QB this summer.

Not that the we ever do well in the star-rating system, but this class still leaves a bit to be desired as it stands right now.

Rivals has LSU at number five and they could climb higher if they end up signing Charles Deas, Jared Mitchell, and Chris Mitchell.

Don't worry about putting too much time or effort into wishing about Deas.

Deas is either headed to Auburn or to FSU, probably by way of Hargrave Military Academy or JUCO, depending on what his next few SAT scores are, since he's around 100-150 points off (based on the new scale scoring), according to rumors.

Psh, we got the best kicker in the country. USC better watch out now.

Deas visits LSU this weekend, so there's still hope.

Jared Mitchell is announcing this week in a country club owned by an LSU alum. I think its safe to say that he is going to pick y'all instead of us. You better watch out for the MLB draft. JM may never see a college football field.

Your fancy school probably has their own special teams coach, too. Aren't they special.

And shame on Miami for trying to get Mauro to decommit from Northwestern.

Not really... college football is a business. If Northwestern lost their star QB recruit, you can bet they'd go looking for another recruit and probably try to steal one from a MAC or CUSA school.

Well, after rampant speculation the last two days that Antonio Logan-El would commit to Maryland this afternoon, he announced he would attend the University of ... Penn State! (yeah I know it's Penn State University, but recruits do that to fool people, build suspense, etc.)

Philip Taylor will likely commit to PSU within the next hour... this recruiting season for Penn State feels like when I'm playing NCAA football on PS2 and I get every top prospect that I target. Simply phenomenal.

You wonder if JoePa will let any of these guys play as true Freshmen or if we're going to have to wait 3 years to hear their names again.

Did you hear anything about Derrick Williams, Justin Norwood or Justin King this year? If they are good enough to play, they will play. You'll rarely see true freshmen play on the offensive line though. At least 2-3 true freshmen will get playing time on the DL though, due to losses to the NFL. I think their 5* recruit, AJ Wallace, will get a decent amount of playing time in the secondary with all 4 starters being seniors last year.

BTW, this makes 8 commits from Maryland, 7 of whom are 4 or 5 stars in the Rivals rankings. One 5*, thirteen 4* and eight 3*. Definitely a top 5 class nationally now with the two 4* commits today. If Hazelton defects from USC I will just about pass out.

This is fantastic. I've never seen a PSU class like this. And to have the last 24 hours bring in 3 4-star recruits.... let's just say that there's not much work getting done in the lab today.

Williams/Norwood/King/Butler, etc, were the exception rather than the rule (and who else was paterno going to play?)

Remember, Paterno stuck with his crappy Sr. QB Zach Mills over the obviously more talented Michael Robinson....

Same here my friend... I slept about 4 hours and then couldn't sleep between the excitement about the Devlin commitment and the upcoming announcments by Taylor and Logan-El. Even the long-time fans on the PSU scout.com message board are saying this is one of the best classes they've ever seen. They had some pretty average years recruiting-wise due to the struggles the past few years, but now that they had such a strong year last year and had great support from the fans (every single recruit that attended the Ohio State game chose PSU), they have become one of the fashionable choices. With a class like this coming in and a good team already in place, I'm confident that we won't be seeing any more losing records in the next few years.

ALE showed this pic of him and JoePa as he made his announcement... needless to say, the OL is just a bit larger

**** OL Hutch Eckerson just announced his commitment to play for Steve Spurrier and the University of South Carolina. We have now signed 4 **** OL's with Daron Rose's announcement still to come (though I think he'll be attending Free Shoes University).

Also, when discussing how he has received commitments from 3 Alabama HS kids, Spurrier said...

"We were never able to get kids out of Alabama when I was at Florida. Come to find out the scholarships they were offering were worth a lot more than ours."

Dressed in a sharp black suit accented by a Maryland-red tie, 17-year-old Antonio Logan-El sat before a television camera yesterday at ESPN Zone in Baltimore, surrounded by Maryland football fans waving red pompoms and holding Terps signs.

Highlights of his football games at Forestville High School in Prince George's County flashed on a giant screen behind him as the top offensive lineman in the state turned his college commitment into prime-time entertainment.

Logan-El first pulled a Florida cap out of a bag before declaring it wasn't the school for him and tossing it aside. Then he held up a Tennessee cap, said a few words and threw it aside.

Finally, the senior got to the Maryland cap, said a few nice words about the program he originally committed to as a sophomore and then dropped it on the floor!

And so went the jaws of the Maryland fans.

Logan-El then held up a picture of him and Penn State coach Joe Paterno and committed to playing for the Nittany Lions.

On top of this, Tayler, Mybrick, and Logan-Els parents were reported to have been yelling F-Maryland after he announced. (no link, so if its not true, please let me know. I saw it posted on a couple different message boards, so I apologize if it is wrong)

Penn State fans, were he not committing to PSU, would you be saying this is a classless act by this kid, the way he announced and all?

They need a new gimmick in my opinion, the hat thing is getting old. Go with the Sports guy, wear a jacket, unzip it to unveil a Maryland shirt. "Oh my god, the fans are going insane, he's a Terrapin!" Then rip it off to unveil your Penn State shirt, the whole thing could be covered by Jim Ross and whatever the other guys name is and it would be so much more entertaining that watching some dumb kid mumble out a few words before mercifully picking a team.
