Can we all agree that Tom Lemming (ESPN recruiting guy) should not be associated with the Army All-American game; specifically, not be allowed to pick the rosters? It's just a little unethical to have a guy picking teams and then telling other schools' commits to attend Notre Dame, and to give rooming assignments such that guys who are considering ND are put with ND commits. Come on.

Well I am starting to get excited about another recruit, which may end up being for naught. According to an article in the Miami Herald today, the Miami Hurricanes' top QB recruit is having second thoughts about his commitment to play there. The reason for his wavering is mostly due to the coaching situation at UM, with 4 coaches, including the QB coach there, being fired after the Peach Bowl debacle.

Devlin, Pennsylvania's Gatorade Player of the Year, has been heavily recruited by Penn State, where his father went, his mother was a cheerleader and his grandfather still lives (in State College).

He also attended the Penn State camps during the summer. So, I'd have to think that if he does not want to attend UM, that PSU would be his choice over Virginia. Several people have said that he will be visiting PSU on one of the next two weekends. This would be a big steal if he became a Lion, and probably give PSU a top 5 class nationally.

EDIT - I just read a couple of other interviews of him immediately after the QB coach was fired, and he still sounded very committed to Miami... so obviously his commitment is not as solid. How much he is uncertain... that remains to be seen.

To nobody's surprise, probably the most coveted OL prospect committed to the Yankees today.

I assume you're referring to Sam Young, who commited to ND, over USC :D

Can you show me where guys considering ND were roomed with ND commits? Before the AA game there were only about 3 available spots left and Young and McCoy were the only ones who hadn't committed that were seriously considering ND.

Sam Young, widely projected as the #1 offensive lineman in the country, chose ND over USC today, making their class even better. Young's expected to slide immediately into Mark LeVoir's old tackle spot.

Well I have to admit that I just heard that, but here are the comments from Myron Rolle, one of the top recruits in the country this year:

Tom Lemming is a huge Notre Dame guy. He kept saying to me, "You know they have a great coaching staff. You know Charlie Weis is Mr. NFL. You're an academic guy. That place is for you." Then he killed Florida State. He said, "You're stupid if you go there." Um, okay. Thanks.

Lorenzo Booker said that Lemming made similary comments to him.

Rolle and Booker both ended up at FSU, the Criminoles should love that guy!

Look at few posts up

Great news, however. Right now ND is #1 in recruiting for QB, RB, and OL, #3 in DB, and TE, #9 at WR, and #12 at LB. It makes me very happy that Weis can recruit.

Also Young did room with Gallup, who had commited to ND already. However other schools did have the same set-up. It is not all that uncommon. McNeil, who just commited to Florida, was roomed with Griffen, who was a Florida commit already.

I assume you're talking about Raeshon McNeil the Notre Dame commit? I saw where he is taking his visit to Florida but didn't see anywhere that he decommitted from ND. I just assumed he was going to partake in the "gator getters" and that southern hospitality, or did he officially decommit?

Syracuse just recruited Tucker Baumbach that was going to Maryland and a receiver from downstate NY that was going to go to Wisconsin.

I also like the fact that they just got Brian White the former Wisconsin OC to coach their QB's.

Penn State would be a good opportunity for him. Morellis is a Jr. next year, meaning this kid could redshirt his first year, backup Morelli his RSFr. year, and then start for 3 seasons (potentially). I'm not sure how good the kid who will back up Morelli next year is, but if this kid is really great, he would likely jump him in the depth chart.

I don't think most could access it, but there's some really interesting audio from the FSU rivals.com site that has Booker and Lemming in a confrontation after Booker's FR year.

Lemming is nothing but a slimeball. I wish he would jump off a cliff, much like his name suggests he should..

I don't care if he jumps off a cliff, but there is no way a guy who is basically a glorified ND booster should be allowed to be in a position of influencing high school kids who want a chance to play at an all-star type football game.

By the way, I assume you saw this pretty big news today?

Tallahassee, Fla. -- Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden

announced Friday the dismissal of Fred Rouse and Cornelius Lewis from the

football program. Lewis, a redshirt freshman offensive guard, started

three games for the Seminoles in 2005. Rouse was a true freshman wide

receiver who started the Orange Bowl game against Penn State. He had six

catches for 114 yards and one touchdown in 2005.

OLE MISS signs no.2 QB prospect in the nation, Brent Schaeffer...WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

Is that the Brent Schaeffer that went to UT?

The same Schaeffer that went to UT.

Great pick for Ole Miss! I'm really interested why he chose Ole Miss over Wisconsin and NC State. On paper, it would seem that he could acheive greater success at the other schools. But I'm sure location and immediate playing time came into play bigtime.

yep, same guy. He played at College of the Sequoias last year and passed for 40 td's and ran for 10 td's. Runs a 4.4. Great pickup for us.

Yeah, it was pretty curious. I can't really find anything out about it at this point, but I've heard it was from pot - after the confrontation during the UVA game, this was the final strike.

At least the recruiting season is going pretty well. Should have a top 5 class when all is said and done.

I figured they killed someone I thought that was the only punishable offense at FSU.

Unless it's a hobo. Then you're fine.

Give it up, kids. You can't have it both ways - bashing if there is trouble and no suspension/kicking someone off, or trouble followed by a suspension/kicking someone off the team.

Bowden said "Drug abuse, academic negligence, dissention, stealing, lying, and major crime will get a player kicked off the team."

"The biggest diciplinary mistake I've made during my career, and I've made it more than once, is waiting too long before kicking a player off my team. My reluctance has nothing to do with winning games. I hate to give up on a kid if there's some way to help him improve his life."

From "The Bowden Way" published 2001.

Sounds just like he does when you take the time and talk with him. But you probably never have had that chance or taken that opportunity.

If a kid can't make it in the pros it's best IMO for Bowden to try to help the kid the best he can. A lot of these kids need somebody to steer them in the right direction and stay on them and by keeping them around Bowden can do just that.

Interesting you say that. If you talk with players who weren't superstars, almost all of them mention Bobby on their own when talking with them. He's been a HUGE influence in inspiring ex-players to go on and have successful careers. The fact that players bring him up as an example of the values they've learned over their lives says much of what Bowden stands for and is about.
