Sam Young, widely projected as the #1 offensive lineman in the country, chose ND over USC today, making their class even better. Young's expected to slide immediately into Mark LeVoir's old tackle spot.

Look at few posts up

Great news, however. Right now ND is #1 in recruiting for QB, RB, and OL, #3 in DB, and TE, #9 at WR, and #12 at LB. It makes me very happy that Weis can recruit.

Also Young did room with Gallup, who had commited to ND already. However other schools did have the same set-up. It is not all that uncommon. McNeil, who just commited to Florida, was roomed with Griffen, who was a Florida commit already.

I assume you're talking about Raeshon McNeil the Notre Dame commit? I saw where he is taking his visit to Florida but didn't see anywhere that he decommitted from ND. I just assumed he was going to partake in the "gator getters" and that southern hospitality, or did he officially decommit?

Kevin McNeil. I meant FSU, sorry

Bummer, the Hula Bowl(in which Brad Smith is participating) is the same time as the Mizzou B-Ball game.

PSU got their 19th known verbal comittment from Virginia's Gatorade Player of the Year, RB Evan Royster. He's 6'0", 190 lbs. and rushed for over 2100 yds and 30 TD's in his senior year. He made official visits to PSU, Oklahoma and Nebraska.

Yep... Devlin is at the O$U-PSU game this afternoon, too.

Basanez sets up a game-winning opportunity down 4 with :01 left after a 44-yard bomb to the half-yard line and they can't punch it in.

Oh, and Basanez let out an f-bomb while in a huddle with a mic on. My hero.

Don't know. That was weird. Probably had to do with trying to keep the game at 3 hours or less.

I only watched the last two minutes, though.

me too. That one long play went out of bounds with about 1:30 left but the clock kept running, and it kept running on that bomb to the 1 yard line.

And how uncreative a play call for the final play. They took a time out and that was the best they could come up with?

I could be wrong, but I believe this is done in most of the post-college All Star games to keep the playing time to a minimum in the hopes of less time for injuries to occur. The big idea of the week is to let the coaches see how the players practice and how quickly they can pick up the "system" that is shown to them and pick up the plays to run.

I dont think they stop the clock on first downs because they are playing NFL rules.

Fred Rouse, good lord, this dude was a 5 star WR. He seems like a baby TO to me, they've had trouble with him before this.

The Wolverines landed the #1 FB in the nation and a lot of southern schools including Tennessee was all over him...wooohoo. Too bad this is the least important position in football, hahaha.

Even better news... a 2 star QB from Arkansas is in the process of decommitting to Arkansas State and announcing his commitment to Miami. I can't imagine this would be happening unless they thought Devlin was as good as gone.

Ball State managed to pull a commitment from the 31st ranked QB in the nation, Nate Davis. Jason Whitlock, who is a Ball State alumnus and posts on BSUfans.com, called him "our Omar Jacobs". With 19 returning starters and Brady Hoke pulling in money class after money class, it could be a great season for BSU. :)

Haha, every relatively highly regarded recruit who commits to a MAC school is going to be the next Ben Roethlisberger or the next Omar Jacobs.

The guy's got as many tools as Jacobs if not more. Don't hate.

With their upgraded facilities, they should be a decent team in the MAC in no time.

Lemmings top 100, although his opinion doesn't count for much (at least IMO)

I'll take 10 out of the top 100 (6 in top 50) for year 1 of Weis recruiting :)

They have 6 out of the Rivals top 100 and 6 out of the Scout top 100... I think those are both more credible sources, since Lemming is known to be a Notre Dame fan, which skews his rankings.

Also, it is now official... 4 star QB and top 10 QB (nationally) Pat Devlin has decommitted from Miami and will be attending PSU. Huge pickup late in the game... next up is one of the top OL prospects, Antonio Logan-El, announcing today, followed by a mammoth DL, Phillip Taylor. I think PSU could use Logan-El more, but he's probably about a 60% shot to go to Maryland. Taylor, according to many, has already verballed to PSU, so I'd put him at about 90% to PSU over Maryland.

Spurrier is slowly pulling us up the rankings. We will probably only take commitments from four or five more guys but all the guys left on our board on four stars. We should sneak into the top 25 before its all said and done. Glad to see Penn State back where it belongs. Except for getting Lou Eliades. Thought we had a solid shot at him.

Rivals.com is just as bad as Lemming, IMO, but not for scewing based on ND. They scew based on upholding their own rankings. Either way, all these rankings really don't mean a thing. The rankings should be made three years from now.

Penn State got an oral comittment from DL Johnny Troutman, who picked the Lions over O$U and Maryland.

I think the key is evaluation by the coaches. If you have "experts" saying this kid is a can't miss top 20 player and he's a dud you might have shot yourself in the foot if you had another kid that was better but didn't go after him. I admit Syracuse doesn't get many top 50 kids in football but whenever they do the player usually ends up average or below average. If you have High School coaches that you know you can trust to help evaluate the kids it would certainly help IMO.

Who had the number one class 3 and 4 years ago?

That's unfair to say. Yes, a part of a HS kid's success at the next level will be the coaching he gets over the next 3 years, but a part of it is his talent - which is what is being rated now.

LSU continues to have a strong recruiting class. And they still have a chance to sign two more top recruits. I'm happy to see that Les Miles hasn't dropped the momentum Saban created.

Rivals has LSU at number five and they could climb higher if they end up signing Charles Deas, Jared Mitchell, and Chris Mitchell.
