In my biased opinion, the Michigan State team that beat ND was much much MUCH better than the team that lost 6 of their last 7. The problem with us scheduling MSU in September is they are always much better in that month than any other. I also find it hard to fault ND for its weak schedule when they have absolutely blown out the opponent in every one of its wins except for Michigan at the Big House, where it's pretty much impossible to dominate the Wolverines.

Yes, Va Tech, Oregon and UCLA are very good teams, but Oregon lost their QB (I know it's not their fault, but they're just not as good a team without Clemens), UCLA has hit the crapper in the last month even though they have only one loss to show for it, and Va Tech had their chance to prove themselves, and got crushed by Miami at home. ND has improved throughout the season whereas these three teams have regressed.

Unfortunately for fans of Oregon, VT, etc., the bowl comittees are as biased as you are. I think if it comes down to one 2-loss team getting an at-large, you can't argue ND over OSU. Ohio State lost at home to a potentially 12-0 team, and on the road to a 10-1 team.

Similar debate can be made with PSU and Miami. Which loss was worse, Miami losing to FSU, or Penn State to Michigan? Tough call.

I think the worst thing that could happen to ND is for no more 0 or 1-loss teams to lose, because they wouldn't have a team fall behind them for "losing late".

You may still get your dream of a ND vs. OSU matchup, it just may not be in a BCS game ;)

As long as ND wins next week they will be in a BCS game.

Fresno State gets a good stop against the USC offense and is now driving. :)

For the record I had USC by four TDs in this game.

So, if Miami ends up losing this game, then what happens?

Va Tech goes to the ACC title game.

Wow, that would be great. I don't want to see the ACC get their dream FSU/Miami game.

Props are due to George O'Leary. Last season Central Florida was the worst team in the country, and the only I-A team to go winless. This year, they went from the MAC to C-USA (an upgrade in difficulty) and stand at 7-3 (6-1) and have already clinched a berth in the first C-USA title game.

Way to go George. And thanks for lying on your resume.

Raisin, can't the Bruins still send Oregon to a Pac-10 title by beating SC next week?

Or would it be a tie

UCLA, USC, Oregon all 1 loss.

Oregon lost to USC

USC lost to UCLA

With no tiebreaker between UCLA and Oregon would they tie, or would the USC game be a tiebreaker? A Possible 3 way tie?

I remember Raisin saying that Oregon would have the tie breaker over both. I have no idea why, unless the Pac-10's tiebreaker is something stupid like the Big 10's system of "Whoever has gone the longest without going to the Rose Bowl gets it".

Miami's punt returner randomly decides to pick up the ball on the one yard line instead of letting it bounce in the endzone and the Canes end up nine yards further back. Genius move pal.

Of course the Canes immediately get 13 yards so it may not matter.

I saw that. Stupid. I really hope the Canes don't come back.

Worst punt returning since...last Sunday at Soldier Field.

GT is very lucky they only turned over 1 of those 3 dropped punts.

Miami goes for the HR on first down and it's picked off inside the 5!

Of course, GT can still screw this up. They don't have much room.

Canes lose. Congrats to Va. Tech for clinching a BCS berth. FSU might lose to Illinois at this point (Not really, but they do suck).

Of all the good teams in the ACC, if FSU somehow beats VT in the ACC title game, that conference will probably get only one bid to the BCS thanks to ND and O$U.

VT still has to get past a pesky North Carolina.

That would be great. 1 SEC team and 1 ACC team in the BCS, and the ACC team could potentially be 7-5. Plus, USF controls their own destiny in the Big East.

Well, well, well. Look what former Big 10 scrub team is going to be #3 in the BCS on Monday!

Now if only Texas can lose, we might see Penn State in the Rose Bowl yet!

God d### I love having a team that can actually win every week (especially after suffering through the Cubs this summer).
