Hard to imagine the Bears having a 2 game lead b/c of tiebreaker in the division while going 3-0 in the division.

Man, I want that Cleveland game back. Get the right call on the Benson "fumble" and the Bears are fighting for home field advantage! The Skins game was very winnable too.

Carolina's two losses have both come on FGs inside 10 seconds left in the game, so they could well be 7-0 right now. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Too late now, no place to go but forward.

Think about this....excluding tie breakers, if the Bears went 5-4 to finish 9-7 this year...

...the Lions would have to go 6-3 to tie us

...the Vikings would have to go 7-2 to tie us

...the Packers would have to go 8-1 to tie us

But if you include tiebreakers, the Lions would have to go 7-2 to tie us because we own the tiebreaker over them with a 2-0 head to head record.

Also the Bears are 1-0 against the Vikings this year, meaning the Vikings would have to go 7-2 with a win over the Bears to tie us, PLUS play well enough in the division to beat the Bears. Right now the Bears are 3-0 in the division, and the Vikings are I think 1-2.

Basically the Bears, by virtue of a 3-0 division record, a 1 game lead in the division, and owning tie breaker between their closest rival are in the drivers seat in the division.

But they are the Bears, and have a rather tough schedule coming up after the next 2 games. We shall see

The lions have a virtually identical schedule.

apparently this was the bears first win in a dome since 02.

Ah yes. I got rather used to that celebration last year when Muhammad was basically Carolina's whole offense. I'm doubly happy that a) we don't have a one man offense anymore and b) that Muhsin is enjoying such success on his new team. :)

I have next week's game against the Saints listed as a noon game, but I thought I saw a commercial for it being a 3:00 game. Anybody know which is correct? I'm assuming if its at 3:00, its because of rescheduling for Hurricane Katrina.

I thought Orton looked real good in the first half today. He finally started finding receivers. He is still missing big opportunities and I'm sure a lot of that has to do with gaining confidence in the pocket.

The running game was too one dimensional today. Jones definitely earned every right to get a bulk of the carries, but come on. Benson needs to get more carries. If Jones gets hurt for any reason, the offense will be doomed.

This is a ball control offense (as usual), but they have an explosive running back that can also catch passes out of the backfield, and they've got good receivers. They should be able to put more than a touchdown a game up offensively.

Orton showed me a lot today.

How did the officials miss the hold on our defensive back on the Lion's touchdown run? The guy not only mugged him, but took him down and laid on top of him. RIGHT WHERE THE PLAY WAS TAKING PLACE! I know why, the officials were busy looking for something they could call on the Bears.

And to think the Lions tried to rip it off...

We'd certainly be lost without him, especially now that Bradley is injured.

According to ChicagoBears.com, the game is at 3:05 on Fox. The original game time may have been noon, but they likely switched it when the game moved to Baton Rouge.

By the way, after the success last week, why didn't Orton go to the TE more today? Clark was coming off a nice game.

Wasn't that the one where after he tackled him and while he was lying on top of him, he looked at the ref and held his arms out in the "I didn't do anything" gesture?

Yep. That should not have been a touchdown. Clear case of holding. Then on the kickoff, the Bears got a nice run back that the officials took away for calling holding on the Bears.

So, not only are these officials horrible, but their idea of a make up call is to kick the same team in the groin again.

We'll know about Bradley tomorrow, hopefully, but Jones is expected to be ready to go against the Saints. And it looks like Ruben Brown will be probable for that game.

By the way, great job on the kickoff returns by Azumah.

And then there's this:

Perhaps the Bears need practice on their victory celebrations. Linebacker Brian Urlacher sported a red welt on his chin after Charles Tillman's game-ending interception return for a touchdown.

"Somebody gave me a hug and hit me in the chin," Urlacher said. "It was fun."

Yes, that's the one. I was screaming at my TV (a bad habit) as the play was unfolding. It was an obvious hold (tackle). Then, during the subsequent Bear offencive series, they called Tait for an incredibly cheap hold that was nothing more than him putting his hand on the outside shoulder of the lineman. :x

Those refs sucked. [-( #-o

Tell me know one saw the that "Pick 6" coming? Garcia got away with trying to make a play out of nothing last week vs. Cleveland with good results. But eventally, throwing the ball up for grabs and trying to force a big play will burn you...

I dont think Garcia would finish the game if he had to play the Bears again next week. He got rocked. I am concerned about Bradley. He was really coming into his own this game.
