It's odd, but we've never had an Astros troll show up here. On the other hand, we've been inundated with Cards trolls at times. This tends to color my perceptions of who I'd like to win.

Is it really fair to categorize fans based off of "trolls" on a message board? I think it's a bit silly to base your opinion on a team off of fans you've never met. Not that trolls are the only reason you dislike the Cards. Just sayin.

That said... my GOD was that clutch from Pujols. Simply unreal.

Not really. It was more Lidge's mistake than Pujols' ability on that AB. Most power hitters in MLB hit that ball for a HR. Lidge threw that right down the middle of the plate. That was a BP pitch if I've ever seen one.

I personally don't think that's a fair assessment.

When you're facing a pitcher of Lidge's caliber, all you can hope for is a mistake. With his unprecedented strikeout numbers, you wouldn't be going out on a limb calling the guy the nastiest closer in baseball. While Pujols may have gotten a pitch to hit, I don't know how you can discredit what he did.. How often do you see a meatball thrown up there, only to have it fouled straight back, with an ensuing remark of "he got a pitch to hit and just missed it" from the commentators?

I'm still in awe at what happened tonight.

Albert's such an arogant jerk. He walked to first.

I cried when I saw Andy go "Oh my gosh."

Andy got to celebrate his pennant after Game 4, and after Berkman's home run last night.

I don't feel sorry for any of them.

Did you see the Cardinals' reaction after the game last night? No celebrating. They simply shook hands and headed for the clubhouse. They know that they still have work to do, unlike the Astros after Game 4. That's why the Cards are the best team in baseball.

At least Pujols' shot was a legit one, not a cheesy fly ball ala Berkman last night and Burke in the NLDS.

And they say it was 412 feet. That shot was 450 if it was a foot.

Maybe the dimensions of Minute Maid Park in the area it was hit limited the measurement to 412 feet.

As a Colts fan, I just sporadically saw the baseball game.

However, when Edmonds walked, I pretty much expected a HR. Lidge wasn't his typical self and Pujols nearly hit one off him the other game (forget which game, though). I didn't see the HR, but when I switched back over and Izzy was in, I pretty much knew what happened.

I definitely would have walked him. Heck, that thought might've crossed my mind if the bases were loaded. He's come up big so many times before in the clutch -- but, considering it doesn't exist, he surely can't be a clutch hitter, can he?

I still think the Astros will probably win the series with Oswalt and Clemens going. But it's the exact same situation as last year, now with the Cards having all the momentum from a walk-off homer. This game was huge, what a clutch play by a great player.

Not that it matters, but Izzy threw both the 8th and the 9th.

Oops. Like I said, I was watching my Colts roll to 6-0.

There's no good reason for a modern ballpark to have the setup that Minute Maid has; especially since it's a baseball only stadium. That short left field is a complete joke.

Being quirky for the sake of quirkiness is totally fake. It's like the kid trying too hard to be cool: it doesn't work.

They need to take those seats out.

BTW: props to Albert, Edmunds and Grudz. Way to "man up".

Apparently there were some Astros dancing in the dugout during the top of the 9th. Larry Walker threw a sidways blast at the Astros for prematurely celebrating in a post game interview.

Like the cliche goes: act like you've been there before.

The Astros are in trouble, IMO.

If they don't win game 6 they won't win game 7. With one swing, Pujols awakened a sleeping giant. It's now headed back to St. Louis with the Cards on top of the world and the Astros down.

I don't like the Astros chances of winning. They have Oswalt and Clemens going, yes, but I don't think Cy Young in his prime would matter at this moment.

But it's not like the Crawford boxes are only there when the Astros are up. The visiting team can also take advantage of the short porch there.

Mel Ott hit most of his home runs over a wall that was 275 feet away. Should we take him out of the hall because he probably got a few "cheapies" in his career?

It works both ways.

There's a difference between making excuses for a loss based on the ballpark, and complaining about the stupidity of the design of the ballpark. It is the same no matter who is batting. But you wouldn't put the fences 150 feet away, or 600 feet away in any new stadium, and it's not because it would be unfair against one team. It's because it's dumb. The short left field porch is a joke. The insane cut-out area in left center is stupid, the center field is pointless. It was a poorly designed ballpark.

I know it works both ways, I just think it's a stupid layout. Even when the Cubs hit a home run into those boxes, even if it's a game winner, I think it's a cheap shot.

That damn hill is just dorky as all heck.

Why not just put a clown face (with holes cut out in the eyes, nose and mouth) and a windmill in the outfield?

It's cheesy. It's over-the-top. There's just too much going on. Paying homage to old ballparks is one thing, but do so here and there. Don't just cram in every possible trick or trend.

I hate Minute Maid. The Crawford boxes are ridiculously short, the hill in center is dumb, the cut-out is worthless and the train that can only go back-and-forth like 100 feet is so completely moronic.

Its right there with that moronic Wild Card Champs banner...

The Crawford Boxes weren't even part of the original design of the ballpark. The wall you see in left center was supposed to run all the way to the left field corner, putting the distance down the line somewhere in the 330-340 distance. But Drayton McLane decided he needed more seats for his playpen so the "Boxes" were added.

The hill is supposed to mimic the one at old Crosley Field in Cincinnati. That was also not part of the original design. Former GM Tal Smith had it put in towards the end of the construction process.

I've said that since the beginning. I'm shocked nobody has broken a leg or blown out a knee because of that thing yet.

Not taking anything away from Pujols greatness but, isn't about time he comes clean with his age? 25 with that receding hairline? I'm not suggesting he's 40+ but, he maybe closer to 35 than 25.

Hey, don't be dissing the bald guy !! My hairline was receding before I got out of high school.

I don't think the best team has yet been decided. At least not for this year.
