Has Jed figured out velocity is good yet?

Oh, I think he knows, it's just not cheap or within the realm of his ever constant search for value.

Yeah the FO is big into the Billy Beane thing of finding the thing that's undervalued.  They pay for better BB/9 and funky deliveries over velo/stuff and put a great defense around it because of the balls in play.  But can't defend against the HR as Jed said.

Dodgers just disappeared this series. Cubs may have put up a better fight vs the Brewers had they played them lol.

Whats been the average velo increase on non-fastballs since 08? The thing about modern pitching is they have figured out its better to just throw your entire repertoire as hard as you can and the improvement in repeating mechanics and tunneling has been majorly impactful on offense as well. The ability to locate non-fastballs is completely insane.

These playoffs have basically been a complete nightmare for the baseball needs a salary cap team. A nightmare that keeps getting worse each round.

People don't want a salary cap because the Dodgers win. The Dodgers win as a result of the reason that people want a salary cap (and, in my case, a high floor), which is that they can basically spend whatever they want for a few different reasons without basically any consequences if they F up on a contract. There's no such thing as an albatross to them because they have so much money. Pay Treinen, Yates and Scott a combined $33M in 2025 to get ERAs of 4.74, 5.23 and 5.40? No big deal, we'll sign Edwin Diaz to a contract worth $23M over 3 years. The Kyle Tucker deal should be a disaster that hamstrings them but it won't if they don't want it to.

Bring in a salary cap and high floor and make any deferred money count toward the salary cap over the length of the contract effectively immediately.

Okay, someone please explain the two patrons in matching orange Marlins' gear behind home plate.  I don't get it.

Marlins man is always at big games behind home plate. Rich attorney from Florida. Other dude is just a fan of him I guess?

The one closer to the field (I think) is Marlins Man who has been doing this for a while. Guessing the other is just imitating him.

Being unaware of Marlins Man in 2026 is an ignorance I truly and deeply aspire to having

I'm old, probably knew this last month and forgot.
