Its really hard sometimes to take this team serious as a playoff team, if they can survive the next month.

IT's hard to take them seriously when guys are sitting there laughing in the dugout.

Problem will be in my mind, is if they bring him back on a 2-3 years deal, and bring Suzuki back , now Hoyer will probably be looking to trade the outfielders that are blocked

well i mean, that's a totally different set of hypotheticals. to me, it seems incredibly unlikely that they're going to commit $50m to the offense in the offseason and basically lock in their entire lineup.

the very obvious plan going forward is to bring back one of the outfielders (seiya at this point, but happ on three years or less is fine), and find some cheap platoon for the other spot. that keeps the corner spots mostly open for the prospects that are actually outfield prospects, ie that project as hopefully above average hitters, but are at least a year away. and then you trade the blocked infield prospects for pitching.

Take the game seriously. There is nothing to laugh and joke around about right now.

hopefully someone punches the wall or something to meet your level of dugout behavior in the sixth inning of an august baseball game

Yeah, this team needs a blow up. They are consistently blowing leads in important games. Sitting around and joking about that is a terrible look. You dont care about winning though so this isnt surprising coming from you.

If no ones hands are broken after this game, we've failed as an organization

Outside of striking gold with the Webb signing, Hoyer has once again shown he has no clue how to build a bullpen.

He won’t spend the money on them nor develop them in the minors.

Obviously, there is tension with many of the fans because of the frustration due to how they have been playing recently. That is totally understandable. I see your point about they need to take things seriously because as the old saying goes “horsefeathers around. And you will find out.“ However, I do agree with Squally that lose their horsefeathers and blowing up isn’t gonna help either. Bottom line is we as fans are frustrated. The players should take every game seriously because the way the national league is playing out it’s gonna be tight for us to get in the playoffs. Nothing is given or guaranteed.

are they out there in the field cracking jokes? going up to the plate and laughing when they miss a pitch? if not, who the horsefeathers cares. banning smiles in the clubhouse isn't going to make thornton start striking people out

you can't prove that

I disagree. Team leaders need to hold guys accountable. This team needs to shoot for higher standards. Our FO clearly isnt.

I think they're a good team with some glaring holes that prevent them from being great.  Sounds like a 90-92 win team which is probably where they'll end up.  They're also incredibly streaky and have been the last couple of seasons (even factoring in that baseball teams/players are inherently streaky).  Right now they appear to be entering another slump.  Hopefully they can right the ship before they get in real trouble.
