I would go ahead and trade Suzuki and tell Alcantara RF is his until the Cubs find somebody better. You are not going to get much for Suzuki but then again, he's not giving you much anyways. Free up those at bats for Alcantara and/or Shaw, once he returns.

Meanwhile Brewers who probably traded half their good players away yesterday and are paying the rest minimum wage are winning 8-3 tonight

They are so far ahead as an organization its sickening.

90 losses is probably enough to get rid of the front office yeah?

Doubt it.

Jed just got his extension.  Even if this year ends in total disaster, he would at least get one more to try to turn it around ( probably 2)

Year 1 of the deal and Bregman kinda looks washed.... Which sounds like a crazy thing to say until you realize he's already 32. Not a dinosaur but old enough to where it's possible.

Problem is, Jed has proven he can not build a roster, much less fix the problems of a roster. I agree he won't be fired but he should.

I'm not going to complain about the offense because I'm just a broken record at this point.  But for folks that want more pitching:

A guy like Kyle Harrison was available for basically anybody to acquire last off-season.  That could have been our Arrieta 2.0.  And the Cubs were especially primed to make a move like that, given that the Sox needed a 3B and the Cubs had a pretty decent one to offer in Shaw.  Now the Cubs will pay 5x more for a pitcher nowhere near as talented with nowhere near as much control.

If Jed is half the GM that he gets paid to be, the Brewers wouldn't be 10 steps ahead of him at every turn.  They revamp their entire team every few years with these types of moves.  Whereas Jed has locked the Cubs into mediocrity.

Every few years? How about every year

Mediocre at best big league team, bottom half farm team, payroll presumably maxed out. What are we even doing here?

Filling the seats just enough for Ricketts to keep counting his cash?

When the Cubs signed Bregman, I was happy, but now, I feel like they should've signed Schwarber or ever Bellinger, instead.  Bregman started hitting better, but he's just not clutch, at least so far.  Do I think he'll get better?  I do.  But, I've been frustrated.

And, what happened to Seiya?  He hit well with RISP last year.  This year, it's just disaster.

He shouldn't but Jed will survive another season,  especially if the CBA shutdown happens.

Cubs have most of their roster intact for 2027, Ricketts can close the checkbook in the offseason and just have Jed fill in the open spots with cheap options.

It causes me almost physical pain to realize they probably didn't even make Schwarber an offer this past off-season.

Starting to think WAR is a horsefeathers stat.  Schwarber had 4.6 last year and Swanson 4.5.  One guy is someone who everyone wants on their team and the other guy is someone nobody wants on their team.

Jed only gives money to glove first guys.

Jed dumped Schwarber out on the street like yesterday's garbage. Probably wouldn't even take his call even if Jed did want to make an offer.

I'd be super surprised, if the Brewers get Skubal.  Like you said, they develop pitchers, and they trade them for the future, right before they hit free agency.

Yeah the Brewers don't trade away prospects for rentals, they do the exact opposite.

But we don't even necessarily need a Skubal, we just need any good SP.  But if they want to beat the Dodgers they need like 3 Skubals, 2 Soto's, and probably another beastly reliever.

You know I was doing so well at trying to be rational and patient and then the Cubs went 5-17 in a 22 game stretch

Lets worry about beating bad teams before beating the Dodgers. Current roster is more likely to compete for the draft lottery than the division
