The premise is flawed.  Not all "top hitting prospects" are created equal.  This is a weak system and the Cubs so-called top prospects are fringe Major League players, not future All-Stars.

Yeh, I can agree with that.

It just weird to have a team call up not 1 but both of their top hitting prospects and not use them much.

Alcantara is basically a pinch runner and a pinch hitter against lefties for Ballesteros or Conforto.

Ramirez got 2 starts when he sat Swanson and nothing else

Really? More than the inordinate amount of HRs we give up?

Yes. I am fully aware that there are more important stats than batting average but hitting .190 as a full time starter, gold glove caliber defense be damned, is horsefeathers embarrassing.

Just a random comment. Wouldn’t put much stock into it. I guess they could go back. But not sure why that is being talked about.

I get the average sucks. And he is aggravating, but he is still playing to a 3+ WAR at the end of the season,

Unless I misread his comment,  I assumed he was talking about Imanaga not doing well in his upcoming FA

Wouldn't surprise me if he and Suzuki end up going back to and playing in Japan to end their baseball careers

Based on the string of posts it looks like he didn’t agree with you about Shota and Suzuki going back to Japan. So, yes, it appears you are misread his comment….. or I did.

This team needs more velocity out of the bullpen in the worst way

I agree. I also agree with Counsell taking Shota out when he did.

Heyward: last 2 seasons with Cubs

353 PA 214 Avg  627 OPS

151 PA 204 Avg  556 OPS

Swanson:

214 PA 187 Avg 632 OPS

Pretty close 🤷

Anecdotally, feel like the pre-cursor to Suzuki hot streaks are a bunch of scorched balls right at people (or LD singles)

feel like it’s time to start thinking about ph-ing for the .180 hitting righty vs tough righties late when the game is on the line

I'll never understand why the Cubs didn't just keep Nico at SS.  He might not be the defensive player Swanson is but he still graded out as an above average defensive SS.

Not playing the retrospect game.  Plenty of people back then were saying Swanson's contract would age horribly.  They weren't wrong

I wish Hartshorn played SS. He would have hit a dong.

I'd have a little more confidence if that was Ramirez hitting 9th tonight
