Pat seemed like he was under the weather on the road trip and it looks like he’s MIA tonight. I hope he’s alright.

I’d sooner keep Rea than the other two - Boyd had an outlier of a year last season. He's been more than unreliable the starts he’s had this year.
Rea has been decent this year, and then Taillon - well 🤷‍♂️

They hopefully will have or go with

Imanaga Cabrera Brown Steele and a new guy via trade by then.

Keep whomever they want in the pen and whatever with who they dont.

I’m pretty sure Taillon got rocked the last time he played the Sox too.  Dude never shows up when it matters.

Yes he does. And it can be argued the Cubs/Sox game isn’t an example of when it matters and more than Cubs/twins. Tailon has, for the most part, been fine. He is a BOR starter. This happens from time to time. But why is this game considered “one that matters” any more than any other game against an AL opponent.

Taillon has been straight up awful. He had literally the worst FIP of qualified pitchers at 5.60 and that was prior to tonight. He currently has a 6.37 FIP which is beyond merely terrible.

He showed up in the playoffs last year and i’ll give him credit for that, but he’s objectively not a good starting pitcher at this point in his career.  I can argue that he’s been mediocre 3 out of his 4 years here

I’m never going to say he is good. He eats innings. That is it. But your comment was he never shows up for big moments. That isn’t true. As you said, he was solid in the playoffs. And he was actually good late last year when games mattered. Suggesting he doesn’t show up for big games and using this game as an example is just wierd to me. A game against the AL is probably the least important games the Cubs play. He isn’t good. He is a BOR starter. And can be replaced if/when the Cubs add a starter.

Challenge it Pete.  Or did the Cubs already use them up?

Has he ever challenged a call?  They may have had "The Talk"  with him.

… But look at the positives, even if Taillon had given up 1 run they’d still be trailing.

It happens. This one is done. Just a loss. Doesn’t matter is it is 12-0 or 3-2. Get them tomorrow and win the series.

Hopefully Steele comes back full health and produces. He’s more than capable.

Rotation with him would be nice. They absolutely need to trade for another SP. not even a question - if they want to go deep into the postseason. Not sure if Peralta would be a crowd pleaser, but early talks with the Mets make it realistic. He’s a solid starter

I understand the logic of saving the bullpen and letting Jamo get shelled.  but this feels like a different game at 5-1 instead of 7-1 in this spot.

oh well.

The way Martin was spinning them off prior to that ... I'd let Jamo wear it too.

If you told me that the Cubs have swung and missed at 100% of the sliders thrown to them this season, I might believe you
