Chicago Cubs named as ideal landing spot for Met and former Brewer Freddy Peralta

The fit seems to work. What's the cost if/when he becomes available?

The Mets need OF bats pretty desperately, the issue is so will the Cubs after 2026. I'm not sure there's a match here unless they just want best prospect available rather than position of need. Value wise I'd guess maybe Wiggins/Rojas and a guys in the 15-20 range or if you can get them to take a lesser lead piece like Alcantara you're probably looking at a good 2nd piece like a Kane Kepley.

If the Cubs honestly felt they could sign Peralta I wouldn’t have an issue with giving up 2 high end guys. But then they need to sign him. Maybe Shaw goes to the outfield, and you figure the last spot out among lower cost FA (maybe Conforto) or another system guy. Spend on the pitcher.

I mean my thought the whole time has been Shaw becomes your everyday RF, Pedro Ramirez becomes your Shaw and you address LF in FA. They can't address LF, RF, SP x2, C and various BP needs in FA in just one offseason.
