The bears are 2.5 point favorites, a shift from being 1.5 point dogs when the line first posted. Detroit is a mess but a threat, and the Bears are trying to figure out how best to head into the playoffs. Some guys are likely to rest. But many will play. A win would be nice.

Because of Campbell running up the score on the Bears and Commanders, I posted my thought of him being a petty, vindictive meathead, I hope I'm wrong.  I'd like to think coaches in his position don't go into any game looking to inflict as much damage as possible, that is beyond winning and losing, to a playoff bound team.

Maybe the only wart on the Bears team this year was that 52 pt drubbing in the Motor City. To be the best, you have to beat the best and while Detroit hasn't been spectacular this season, they were last and have all the talent to be next season. Injuries are always scary, but I also feel that this Bears team plays with such focus and determination (thank you Ben Johnson) that to hold starters out may halt that focus - they are still in that first year

idk, I hope for no injuries and a win

eh, I see him running up the score to tell the world the Lions are the best. I don't think that equates to someone who would place bounties on heads in bitter retaliation when they arent the best. Right now, I think he has his own problems to work out

Sounds good to me.

Could go either way.  With nothing to play for I could see the team packing it in and playing like crap.  Or with nothing to play for they go all out and try to send a message to the Bears.  For how crappy their season is, they are 3rd in DVOA for the season, I think I saw the 2nd best 8-8 team ever by DVOA.  They're a really good team, if they're up for it.

At the end of the day, Ben Johnson clearly thinks it matters, so he’s playing he’s guys like it’s a do or die game. That’s fine. I don’t think it’s clearly one or the other. Maybe the worst thing would be to hedge and kinda try and sit some starters and not everyone.

I worry about injuries because injuries occur in every single football game. I worry about our WR health and depth, I worry about our defensive backfield. I hope nobody gets hurt. I hope we pound them and get revenge and tune up our guys and secure the second seed. Let’s see what happens.

This is probably my own Bears meatball fan talking, but Campbell getting revenge on BJ sounds an awful lot like:  dirty hit on Caleb.

Not a dirty play, but have to be aware of this

Campbell should had gotten his revenge boner out of the way in W2. To still have a revenge boner it in W17, I think he needs to see a doctor.

I get why Campbell is upset. He knows CBJ made him in Det and he is upset that his right hand man did not just leave Detroit but left for a division rival. To be this butthurt even know, tells me Campbell is both small and petty. If Campbell is encouraging his players to do some cheap, late hits on Caleb, then I hope the Bears hang 60 on them.

Campbell isnt butthurt over Johnson, hes just meathead coach speaking.

also, would Tevon Diggs work for us? he's been released from Dallas

He is worse then what the Bears currently have.

Yall worried about the wrong coach's revenge. Detroit is a good team. Best point differential in the NFC North. But I have 0 doubt the Bears are going beat them by double digits. Doesn't sound like St Brown will play for them. They haven't been outdoors in months and haven't played a cold game outdoors since the game in Chicago 375 days ago.

The Lions gave the Bears their worst loss of the season and they have only lost 1 game where they didnt have a chance to win on the last play since mid September.

Lions have given up 27 or more in 5 of the last 6 games (would be 6 of 6 if they had faced an NFL QB last week vs Minnesota). The Bears offense will want to stay hot for the playoff run.

Ben tries his damndest to get Caleb to 4000 (270 yards) and 30 (5 TDs). Bears win by 20.

I'm with you, Raw. Atlanta was playing for nothing against the Rams on Monday night. But they weren't supposed to really be playing for anything. That's different than being expected to be a top team and falling to last place. Detroit was supposed to win their division and go to the Super Bowl last year and this year. Their window is closing and they have nothing to play for Sunday. I don't think you'll see the fire in Detroit's players. It's not the Bears fault they aren't going to the playoffs. It's not Ben's fault, either. Ben stayed in Detroit longer than he should have. It's natural for coaches to get promotions, so you wish them well and move on. Campbell had his revenge game earlier this year, and I seriously doubt there is a rift between Ben and Dan, or that they want there to be a rift. Dan is going to give a fire-y speech to try to get his players inspired to win in Chicago, but I'm marking this one down as a Bears win on Sunday.

The blitz completely kills Detroit's ability to move the ball. We don't blitz much, but I think they will be bringing them on Sunday in that cold air.

what is a faked sideline move?

When a QB acts like he’s going out of bounds so the defender doesn’t hit him but then he stops his momentum and keeps running. I think Caleb took at least one big hit last year from the Lions on a play like that, but Caleb stopped using the fake sideline play this year.

Dan may be a meathead but he’s not that kind of guy. He’s not dirty.

Obviously the defensive line is a problem, but it’s not like the Bears aren’t spending on it. Dayo, Grady, and Montez are getting $55 million this year, but the results haven’t been there.

Rappaport says that the Bears believe that Sewell tore his achilles and he's going to get an MRI.

Johnson just had his press conf and said Sewell will be put on IR this afternoon.

55M + 2nd round pick for Dexter, 2nd round pick on Shemar Turner, 1st pick of the 3rd round on Pickens (which was actually pick 64 due to a forfeited pick) + a 2nd round pick trade to get Sweat.

You got a value signing in Billups and a value draft pick in Booker, otherwise Poles has spent a bunch of money and basically used four 2nds on the DL.
