I'm surprised everyone seems eager/ok with moving on from Swift.  IIRC he has 1/$8 million left on his contract after this season; that seems pretty reasonable for a guy playing as well as he has.  He and Monangai seem to complement each other pretty well too.

I'd keep him for one more year if possible.  The cap situation shouldn't be so dire with a QB on a rookie contract.  I will be very mad if they cheap out.

I'd keep for another year but I would also draft a RB.

For sure, I like Monangai but he's still more of a rotation guy than bell cow.

I don't really care who they put at RB, TBH (within, you know, reason and common sense).

Especially not behind this line and with this coach.

It's like those "could a normal person gain a single yard" hypotheticals. Behind this line? Hell yea lol

I think a more dynamic RB would have more than 5 TD, and more than 4 rushes of 20+ that Swift has. The team has zero runs over 40, and have by far the highest YPC of the 10 teams without a 40+. The line has been great at opening holes but the RBs have not taken full advantage, imo, despite a great game in Philly.

Ok, but also, the O-line hasn't been this good from the start of the season.  Dalman in particular had some early struggles.  Remember when he forgot to actually let go the ball against NO?  As they've gotten better and settled in, so has the running game.

That being said, I'm much more interested in Monangai moving forward than I am Swift.

Because there is nothing special about Swift. His success this year is a product of the offensive line. He is easy to replace for pennies in free agency ( ~2M ) or day three of the draft.

His cap next year is 8.83 vs 1.33 dead cap. Take that 7.5 savings subtract around 2 mil for a replacement in FA and that's 5 mil for other things.

In addition to the obvious needs, the Bears also need at least one S and one LB. Look back to when they signed Edwards (LB), his first year cap hit was 5.3 Baird (S) was 6.4 his first year. Go find the next one of those.

This years NFL cap was 279.2 M. Currently Spotrac is showing Chicago at 300 M for next year already on the books.

Monangai is a good tandem back, not a feature back, would like to see the Bears use a day 3 pick on a back to work in.

Hopefully the Bears don't have a 1st round pick because it's being used to acquire a pass rusher like Garrett, Crosby, etc. But if the Bears pick somewhere in the early to mid 20's, I have no complaints about the Bears taking somebody like Love.

Honestly if they're picking at the back of the 1st round I think I'd prefer they use it to land a proven DE.

If anybody enjoys the X's and O's of some of the running plays from the Eagles game, this is good stuff.

Awesome, thanks for the video.  I have to think the Bears will not confuse and perplex the Packers like they did Eagles even so, with the Packers not confused and committed to stopping the run.  That'll leave holes, maybe, leaving single coverage on Luther, DJ and Rome for Ben and Caleb to exploit.

No better way to start the day than with 15 minutes of pure Bears porn!
