I really don’t want to see Poles trade picks for a middling veteran. His best trade of that ilk to date doesn’t look all that great now. I’m hoping Johnson has a positive influence in future drafts and maybe eventually takes over decision making authority, or at least gets a bigger say as time goes on.

Yes

Blech- I hate moves that are made to make a move. Maybe this guy was just a bad scheme fit in Cleveland, but if he’s traded with a low pick for a slightly higher low pick, I don’t know how that benefits the team trading for him

It benefits them because they don't have any bodies to play the position. Shemar Turner is out. Dayo is out. Robinson is questionable this Sunday. You need someone. Other than pillaging a practice squad here or there, they had to do something. If they don't make some move, I don't know squat about this guy, but he is a warm body that can at least give either Sweat or Booker a few breathers on the bench between pass plays. Booker is probably not even in the best playing shape he needs to be in right now since he's been out the whole year.

As Jersey pointed out, Poles can't really be trusted to make a big move, so this is about the least damaging trade he could have done. This team isn't challenging for a Super Bowl this year no matter what. Better to hang on to the good draft picks for now.

Agreed.  They weren't getting pressure so they still won't.  It's a net zero transaction.

How had Dayo looked against the run this year? That’s the only thing I can really think of in getting a warm body to replace him. They were really getting run on to start the year but got stout the last few weeks.

Player A:

547 YDS  3.8 AVG

Player B:

362 YDS  5.3 AVG

One player was drafted R 1.6

One player was drafted R 7.233

One player is defiantly more talented than the other.

One player has a bad O-Line.

You put Jeanty behind this Bear Oline with Johnson's play calling and I'd seriously set his over under at something like 1500 rushing yards.

Unrelated, but can you imagine the uproar if Caleb had put up a game like Nix did tonight? He'd be getting horsefeathers on by every sports show across the country, but because it's Nix I doubt we hear much of anything.

1500 is only about 88 yards per game. If Monangai has started from game 1 he would most likely be well on his way to hitting that also.

This only highlights how much more important other factors matter versus the individual talent gap between runners.

It was a weird game. It seemed windy enough to cause havoc with the passing game, but I saw a lot of passes placed exactly where the QB intended. Both teams seemed to scheme a very plain and boring offense (maybe because of the stiff breeze) and it was exactly what they got.

Denver is one of the weakest 8-2 teams i have seen. Looking at their schedule they are going to fall back down to earth. Nix was the 6th QB taken though so this is who he is.

The narratives have been unfair since the draft. Jayden Daniels was the messiah last yea rand we, as Bears fans, were told that we should regret the Caleb pick. This year, Jayden sucked, and is now dead, and not a peep from the talking heads (except that Caleb still is the worst thing ever even when he's leading remarkable comebacks)

Don't forget about all the JJ McCarthy love/buzz as well.

I don’t even know what it’s about anymore.  Our QBs also get clobbered and seldom a roughing call.  I’m just trying to ignore the sports talk noise.  I know in the locker room BJ has the team focused on the games. That’s what is most important.

I hope BJ is constantly in the officials ear about this, I was advocating for him to go bat-horsefeathers crazy on the officiating.  Now, I'm thinking the more subtle approach of being insistent buzz in the officials ears is a better approach.

Yes.  I’m in Wisconsin so even if I can’t get the Bears I watch every Packer game.  LaFleur literally picks a ref or two and stays in their ear constantly.  And it works.  Get 1 or 2 more calls in a game? That can absolutely flip an L to a W.
