Loveland' GW TD was the kind of nonsense BS we've seen happen to the Bears over and over.  Nice the shoe was on the other foot for a horsefeathers change.

A typical Bears result would be like him getting tripped at the 2 and they run out of time to run the spike and lose.

I dont know if it was mentioned at the time....Johnson calling TO before Cincinnati scored was bigger than it appeared. I have seen coaches show way too much "Faith" in their defense in those situation

My buddy was saying that Loveland should have fallen at the 1 and the Bears kick a FG and I told him if we did that we’d rush to the line to spike it and commit a false start that would give them a 10 second run off and end the game.

Booker time

dayo is a nothingburger

booker had that great sack/ff on a really strong move but I’m not sure how many snaps he saw, I’m sure he was on a pitch count

i really hope we pick up a pass rusher before the deadline.

I had to run an errand immediately following the Bangels taking the 42-41 lead, but I had my phone on gamecast. I was pretty sure we lost. looked down on my phone and saw something like

What would it take to get Bradley Chubb? A second round pick?

Yea no way they get off in the case. He had to go down by the 15 or 20 or take it to the house

Ben Johnson is absolutely the anti-Eberflus and for that alone I am grateful.

over the next week we’ll have a ton more to think about, things that can and need to be fixed (I don’t think the defense CAN be fixed really), but damn, it feels good to win another game that we absolutely would have lost last year.

Everything is not perfect with Caleb but between stuff like this being a regular occurrence and the fact that we now have a legitimate "lol you left him too much time" QB for the first time ever it's really hard for me to sweat the smaller stuff

He keeps his cool.  I’m losing my s*** as the Bengals close in on the go ahead score (and so is most of the CHI fan base no doubt), and he’s calling TO to give his team a slim chance.  Yeah that’s what is expected, but there have been so many boneheaded head coach moves late in games with this organization.

Note: I've been on vacation since last Saturday so parden the tardiness of some things in this post.

1. Boo the Ravens game result. Just boo.

2, Bears signed C.J. Gardner-Johnson? OK. Clearly the Dennis Allen link and the Bears need all the help, as evidence of today's game.

3. Colston Loveland. We now see why Ben Johnson wanted this guy. Hopefully he can continue to play like this.

4. Defense is going to suck until elite talent is brought in. It's laughable the Bears gave up 400+ yards to the ancient statue known as Joe Flacco. OTOH, regardless of the level of talent at RB for the Bengals, they could not do anything while running the ball. So that is something.

5. Trade deadline is Tuesday and you know Poles is going to do something. Just hope Poles do not overpay.,

One reason I think Caleb is good in these game winning situations is because defenses guard the sidelines and that opens up the middle of the field where he can just rip it on deep seam routes and see over the line with his eyes down field.

You’re usually the obscure stat guy, I’m surprised you didn’t mention that the last time the bears won a game where the defense allowed over 40 points was week 7 2008 vs Minnesota in a 48-41 win

Caleb played great on that last drive and proved he can perform in crunch time, but I don’t think the smaller stuff is inconsequential. It’s the stuff that really good QBs do regularly.

The play at the end of the game to Loveland is the type of play Caleb should be having all day long. He's got nearly as explosive of a WR room as Cincinnati and he's still not seeing those plays. Way too many missed open receivers in his progressions. Ben is working on this. Once he does start hitting those receivers in stride on the regular, look out. The one other thing about Loveland's catch is he was WIDE open, and Caleb only seems to see those types of plays develop, rather than the guy who is just about to break his route. That and seeing the whole field in real time is what we need next.

The concern right now is these are pretty soft defenses that he's faced so far. Hopefully more of the pieces come together in the Giants game, because the training wheels will be off after that.

Side note on Cam Ward: To be fair, Caleb was not drafted by the worst team in the NFL. Carolina traded that pick to the Bears. Cam is like many 1.1's in that he doesn't have much to work with because he was drafted by the WORST team in the league. So it's not really fair to make any kind of assessments as to what he's shown so far. Outside of Calvin Ridley (who is hurt more often than he's not), you can't name a Tenn. WR. Dude is leading the league in getting sacked, also.

And if that isn't bad enough, look at Cam's opponents (in order) to start this season: Denver, LA Rams, Colts, Texans, Cardinals, Raiders, Patriots, Colts and Chargers. Brutal for a rookie QB. I'm not an advocate by any means, but he's had a tough go so far.

Dayo may be doing things that don't show up on the stats page, but I don't know what they are. If I recall correctly, DE was considered the biggest offseason need and they completely ignored it in FA and the draft.

Remember to pull your injury-prone QB who runs a lot lest he destroy his non-throwing arm late in a blowout game

I watched it in real time, saw something happen to his left arm, didn't realized his arm, at the elbow, was literally rotated 180 degrees in the opposite direction.  Read his elbow is dislocated, sounds as if he may been very fortunate to not suffer any ligament damage.
