Yeah and for me it's fine to admit that temporarily they are more of a target because they've been successful in recent years and the Cubs haven't.  But all things equal I'd "root" (root is relative) for the Brewers over the Cardinals in a playoff series without question.

I want to say I couldn’t possibly root for either of them under any circumstances, and yet I’m about to root hard for the Dodgers. *insert shrug emoji*

The Starting Pitching should be easy to solve just go sign another good quality starting pitcher. But how do we solve are woeful offense that has so many people locked into their positions.

Trade Happ, extend Hoerner.  Get at least one big corner OF bat.  Try to find someone to fill the hole at 3B (you can't go into next season with Shaw penciled in as the starter).

That's a series that I just wouldn't even watch.

If you trade Happ  wouldn't you need 2 starting outfielders then?

I‘m not sad, I’m angry. We have a ****** owner and a pretty piss poor front office. I know baseball will baseball, and higher payrolls don’t guarantee anything, but there are no excuses for this team to be looking up at the Milwaukee horsefeathers Brewers, regardless of Andrew horsefeathers Vaughn turning into Babe Ruth and Kyle Tucker devolving into Ian Happ. I don’t care that they made the playoffs; the frustration of yet another season where the offense absolutely horsefeathers the bed far exceeds any pleasure derived from watching October baseball with no real confidence in their ability to make a deep run. Thanks for allowing a meatball to meatball. Rant over.

I wouldn't advise caring more about the performance of this team than their ownership and front office do.

It's quite clear that TR is only in it for the money at this point, and winning is somewhere far down the list of his priorities.  Don't give him your emotions. He doesn't deserve them.

Yes, that huge being able to have that one guy who can carry the rotation and eat innings in the playoffs to save the bullpen.

Cubs don't have that Ace, they need to find that guy to go with Steele Horton Taillon and likely Imanaga.

That would be a solid rotation

No more journeymen please.

Just 1 if you get an OF bat like he said. Then you have the FA bat and PCA, leaving one spot open.

Well, we made it to the NLDS. That’s not terrible. Still have a lot to work on though.

Now time to forget I have an account on this forum until March.

Not necessarily.  Seiya is fine in RF, Ballasteros can fill DH, and you still have Caissie/Alcantara to fill in the gaps.

The Brewers deserve credit for going on their insane run. Home field indeed was a factor in this series, and their pitching was ultimately the difference.

There's a lot of what could have been with injuries and the failure to add a rotation piece. But even then, I don't know if it would have been enough to overcome the offense's shortcomings, be it here or against the Dodgers.

It was a successful season, but there's work to be done this offseason.

Brewers may not have a lot of power but they put the fat part of the bat on the ball and drive liners around the diamond and don't swing greedy.  They did a good job this series and the homefield was a big factor.  They're really annoying.

Also think we got a bit outmanaged.  Pomeranz as an opener is a head-scratcher and Rea 2nd time through the order also. MeGill as opener was brilliant.  Oh well.

Why are people suggesting Happ being traded?  He has repeatedly shown zero desire to leave Chicago and has a NTC.  Sure the Cubs could strong arm him and say 'we want you gone' but I doubt they would do that and there's still a decent chance Happ says 'well too bad' anyways.

Relying on Ballasteros and Cassie or Alcantara to fix this lineup doesn't inspire confidence. It just sounds like a downgrade.

I hear you. I’ll be over it by tomorrow, but I felt the undeniable urge to rant for catharsis. And yes, I yell at clouds sometimes, too.

Even if he did want to leave, I'm not sure what people are hoping they're gonna get in return for him.

But we cant pencil Shaw in at 3rd?

I like Happ and he probably isn't going anywhere, but for me it would be about doing something different.  There just aren't many places to change things up in the lineup.  I know the advanced metrics show that even when Happ is going bad he isn't really bad, but for WHATEVER reason he seems to be more prone to extreme swings in offensive outcomes.

Happ has a no-trade clause and he probably wants to stay in Chicago

By "fill in the gaps", I meant more 4th outfield types.  I certainly don't want to hand Owen Caissie a starting outfield job on spring training.

Probably be easier to get Suzuki to agree to waive in offseason more than Happ, especially if they tell him he'll split some time as DH with Ballesteros, but i think both stays until at least the trade deadline depending on how season is going.

They're more likely to agree to waive then, especially if there's no chance of extending and they get moved to a playoff contender.

Tommy Pham will probably be available.

That was my way too early guess as Tucker replacement and to hold down RF until Caissie was ready..lol

They really need to think of a backup option for Shaw.  He's looked uncomfortable for most of the season.  He dives towards the plate with his stride and pitches seem to come on him quickly, his plate coverage is also bad. I think there's definitely tweaks they can keep making.
