I can’t believe that Arizona has such a good chance to make the playoffs now - didn’t they sell at the deadline?

Yeah, I think they did.  It's harder to believer the Tigers is fighting for the last wild card spot, though.

How come the Pirates could beat the Reds twice in 2 games in Cincinnati?  We were 0-4.

They did. Only guy they kept was Gallen. Naylor, Suarez and Kelly traded.

Because baseball is weird.

Back to back high scoring games, Boyd sharp, Palencia back, Tucker trending for Friday...

Things are looking up folks!

Hopefully, you're right.  Boyd was way better today.  Yes, Palencia is back, and he looked like Palencia.  Tucker?  I'm not sure.  He'll probably come back, but can he hit well?

I can see Cassie at some point if there is an injury. If they don’t sign Tucker I expect Ballesteros to be the DH. As you said, sign another outfielder/bench bat. I think they will spend on a pitcher. Either a FA (Cease, King, Gallen) or a controllable pitcher like Ryan, Cabrera, Gore or Ryan. And if they do go that route I think Cassie is gone

They could use another good SP for sure.  They probably sign some FA.  Probably not one of the elite guys based on Jed's history, but we can hope.  Probably more the Boyd/Imanaga/Taillon type.

Ballesteros has looked good.  I'd like them to keep both Caissie and Alcantara if Tucker walks.   Happ and Seiya will also be FA after next season i believe.  It's possible Ballesteros goes part-time catcher after Kelly leaves next offseason or there's an injury.

I think guys like King or Gallen could be in play.. I agree it won’t be Valdez. And I don’t want Cease. I am not sure what other pitchers are free agents.

Bullpen is already covered and by my admittedly back of the envelope map, we're still down $40m from this year, which is down from last year. A stop gap outfielder and two bench guys for $40m?

I did say theyll like spend less than 200 that Rcal10 asked about

If you ask Cubs twitter it’s because the players celebrated making the playoffs “like they won the World Series”

Man the ESPN guys put up a Ryan Pressly type performance tonight. Just absurdly awful

Genuinely can't believe they still trot out Karl Ravech to call games. I know he's been there forever, but jeez.

Unknown on Tucker, but I like the idea of bringing him back after a good rest.  He was all kinds of jumbled.
