Please - someone make sense of Counsell’s decision of pinch hitting for Caissie with a 41 year old (or however old) with Caissie swinging a hit bat?? Is it me - am I the o my one that takes issue with that as a fan? Just checking lol

Turner is good against LHPs, Caissie is not. I want to see Caissie too, but this is still a results game.

And he grounds out weakly to the pitcher.  Please.

Hindsight is perfect. For all we know in the alterative universe Caissie just struck out and we're all wondering why we let a LHH rookie hit with 2 runners in scoring position against a LHP who has struck out nearly one out of every third lefty he's faced this year.

The Cubs offense has been brutal for a month. We had two runners in scoring position and Owen Caissie's spot is only likely to get one more PA.

You take the guy with a 122 wRC+ against LHP on the season there instead of hoping that Caissie's spot comes up in an even bigger space later. Two runs puts the game at 5-1.

Which did not happen.  The analytics get to be a bit much at times.  Go with the hot hand and adrenaline.

Kinda surprised Taillon is stretched out enough to hit 90 pitches in his first start off IL.  I know he had multiple rehab starts and now sure how many he threw but he was out almost 2 months.

This is the right call but I very much understand the frustration

I understand the thinking of the righty lefty deal, but the kid is swinging a hot bat - I totally disagree with that move personally, but I’m not the manager so 🤷‍♂️

The analytics only get "a bit much" when people don't get the results they want. The analytics are more right far more often than vibes.

I don’t disagree with you - you have a kid hitting well and making solid contact, so why not ride with him. I know you can’t predict results, but how did those “results” work out? I just think they overthink the numbers too much.

And you didn't want Cassie up (from Iowa) in the first place.  He's provided a mild boost.

It cannot be overstated how incredible our pitching and strategy team has been lately. They held the Blue Jays to 8 total runs. They're keeping the red hot Brewers in check, yesterday's Hollowell performance notwithstanding. The pitching has been amazing.

They never over think the numbers too much. Numbers are unbiased. But a good reminder that in baseball, even the "right" choice at the plate ends up being an out 50-60% of the time.

Pinch hitting for Owen was flat out stupid so early in the game. Kid is having a great day ! You’re going to need his bat late in game. Only 5th inning
