If the Cubs weren't slumping so badly a QS or thereabouts from Rea would be enough.  Rea' never going to shut anyone down, right now the Cubs need shutouts to win.

These guys go to plate and theyre seeing guys like Nolan Ryan, Steve Carlton, Jim Palmer standing on the mound against them.

They look like they have zero confidence up there and swinging just to swing

It’s quite hilarious how you say some of us are letting bad results complaints about good processes, yet your genius is literally letting a good result justify a bad process.  Balm was super shallow yesterday with an incredibly slow runner.  Hey got lucky.  Then today on a ball absolutely scorched, the same slow runner tries to take multiple bases and is out.  Because it was a DUMB decision.  BOTH TIMES.  The ends do NOT justify the means.  Love being aggressive.  Dont love making stupid decisions.

One thing we have in common here is that we are both not letting results color our thoughts on process. Don't know where you got that for me.

Rcal already argued my point for me better. If that play works 35% of the time, it's a good send. You're leaving lot of expected value on the table by being so risk-averse in your process. 4th down game theory is a really good analogy for this, it's basically the same thing

Here's the list of guys who add something on offense right now:

Nico

Shaw

Happ

Dansby

Castro maybe?

Ouch.

It's brutal. Tuck/Zuki/PCA/Busch/Kelly doing zilch. Can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Yes, just make up numbers and spout them as facts.  The chance of him scoring either time was not good.  The process of both decisions were bad.  Not a smart send.

I didn’t make up Castro’s batting average. I am sure the Cubs coaches have a pretty good idea of who is fielding the ball and who is making the relay. If they. Relieve the chance of a guy scoring is better than the chance the guy gets a hit while coming up next, the send makes sense. Period. Unfortunately even if the odds of a guy scoring is only 35-40% that means he is more likely out at the plate. And we get people complaining. But what is the other option? Let the next guy bat and have him make an out, like even good hitters do 70% of the time? It’s just math staffs should know the math. And they definitely know it more than you and I do.

Taillon got rocked in AAA

Perfect, what makes it worse is they'll probly rush him back and for what? Keep him down there until he gets a clue. Remember, he was terrible BEFORE his injury.

Sounds like they said he'll make a couple more starts at Iowa.

Terrible suggests that the rotation was worse with him in it than not and that's not the case

Incoming lefty to face PCA im guessing

i mean it doesn’t help that everyone is slumping but feels like teams are game planning the cubs offense better

Not surprising. Hes basically guarenteed to give up a minimum 4 runs per start which is acceptable to Jed

This thing where every opponent has an endless arsenal of lefty pitchers to throw in the game at any convenient point is really aggravating

Maybe, in what feels like the first time since the before the dawn of time, PCA will come through.  I'll take Christmas in August.  Yeah, forget that, another K coming up.

Riiiiiiight.....keep telling yourself that. Whatever gets you through the night man. He sucks and it's nothing new. Guy was a bad signing and the proof is in his bad numbers.

"Jameson Taillon has shown inconsistency on the mound, with stretches of strong performances offset by outings where he struggles with pitch counts and giving up hits. While he has had moments of success, including a stretch of five consecutive wins with two or fewer runs allowed, his overall numbers have been impacted by issues like high pitch counts, allowing traffic on the bases, and giving up home runs"

He was signed to be a solid #3 MOR kinda guy and he's not living up to that....at all.

PCA needs to get this tantrum BS under control. I like how he plays the game and im not against him showing emotion but im sick of watching him throw the bat after every strikeout.

Maybe i sound like an old man yelling at a cloud but that horsefeathers cant be good for your mental

PCA is pressing big time. Gotta get him out of the cleanup spot.

"Pressing" is his default mode
