I see.  Yeah that definitely isn't on CC then.

Today is a little harder to swallow, but I'll give him this; the weather the conditions are not positive for any pitcher. The Cubs have tagged a really good arm for four today already it's super hot/humid, and the Cubs are in the middle of a 16 games in 17 game stretch.

Even if Rea serves up a bomb, it's probably better than putting Nate Pearson out there and having him walk a guy and then giving up a home run. Rea throws strikes and anyone in the league feels like could go yard.

The Cubs need to preserve relievers a bit. One of the things that I think Counsell knows the best is that it's a 162 game season and you can't live and die on every game. I really like that about him.

Counsell arguably cost us the first game of this series when he pulled Boyd, who was cruising.  Now this BS.

He's a beast and could win manager of the year - but wow, some of his decisions lately have hurt

Boyd was injured as to why he got pulled, he hurt/bruised his pitching shoulder on that line drive he caught.

I understand Counsell saving the pen but up to what point? You’re conceding another game.

I guess he was hoping he could get through 7,8,9 in the line up. I would have rather he be pulled and would have bet he would be. But the decision wasn’t that ridiculous. It just didn’t work out.

Well, not Flexen's fault...he came in and did a good job as usual. Sure woulda liked to have seen him at the start of the inning. This is the first game since CC was signed to the mega deal that I'm doubting him. Most anyone could see that Rea was burnt through 5. He gets paid way too much to have that poor of judgement.

I love that about Counsell too.  No coincidence to me that almost all our position players have remained healthy this year so far.  He keeps guys fresh.

Busch having a rough day

Yep, on a day you need your best hitters to be productive,  cant have a power bat strike out 3 times.

Cohen has no idea when a fly ball is going to be a HR or not

I agree with this. He called that routine ball to right as if it was going out.

Serious question - why don't the Cubs give Adam Amin a shot?  He's already killing it with Bulls and Bears play by play.  And I believe he's had good reviews doing MLB playoffs in the past for Fox.  I'm sure he'd jump at the opportunity to call a couple of games

A ton of empty seats today. Everyone just hiding in the shade?

baseball in 100+ degrees as a spectator sucks, no matter if your team is winning or losing. i'd be downing gatorade near the concessions on a day like today.

Im hoping they could at the very least only be down 1 or 2 in the bottom of 9th and have a legit shot, need some work and someone from the pen to shut them down the final 2 innings.
