Just to add; the Dodgers dropped 30 points of wRC+ in June as well; a team that everyone was ready to essentially give the WS to on Opening Day. So that's the Yankees (as you've pointed out) and the Dodgers who are struggling recently. It's almost like this is what happens when you play 162 games.

I think it’s the difference between having a Carson Kelly with a 1.2K OPS in April all the way to a 10/100 slump and regression to his career average. Who in the lineup outside of Kelly and Shaw are exactly in a deep slump? The

the offense is solid but not good enough to win if this is the same roster we’ll see in the playoffs even with a healthy Shotah and Amaya until they acquire another TOR arm and or Carson Kelly turn into babe Ruth again.

Jesus. Can we at least get a mound visit? Pressly has nothing.

We did just before the 110 mph rocket double was hit.

Bullpen is starting to come back to earth. They had a nice stretch, but 162 games, as they say. Although we never expected much from cabrera and Pressley in the first place to be fair.

Tommy Edman over his last 123 PA's: 82 wRC+
Teoscar Hernandez over his last 93 PA's: 52 wRC+

The Cubs having players in a slump isn't special to the Cubs. You don't recognize when Tommy Edman has 120 PA's of being worthless because you don't follow the Dodgers like you do the Cubs. No shame - no one has time to follow 30 teams of 26 players (plus all of the other roster ups and downs). That's hundreds and hundreds of players!

Point is; every team has players who go through slumps. The Cubs offense is plenty good enough. We gotta stop pretending like this isn't normal.

Boyd removed after 76 pitches for the ol meatball hurler. 2nd game in a row of questionable pitching management.

From opening day until May 10 (picked because it seemed like the easiest way to split the season to date in half), we had a 123 wRC, since then we've had a 108 wRC, which is (still) 8th in baseball. The baserunning and defense has been and remains elite. The overall package, even running cold or whatever you want to call this, is absolutely still good enough to win.

At least he didn't give up the lead, Cubs will get it back.  Nothing frustrates me more than walking garbage hitters like Solano, I'm certain it frustrates Pressly as well.

You're going to have to manage Boyd if you want him later in the year.

Ryan Pressly has been really good for the last 15 innings. He's made slight mechanical tweaks, his fastball has been much better; it's not luck. I get he gave up a home run today, but I'm not sure putting in Pressly there was a bad choice. It just had a bad outcome. Sadly, Craig doesn't have the benefit of hindsight like we do.

I’m saying the offense is in between now and April and maybe a little closer to the current iteration than the dodgers. Carson Kelly’s April magic isn’t coming back while Hernandez and edman have a track record of success.

Some of the criticism is being spoiled by the early year magic, and if they can’t recapture it then they’ll need to add another arm badly. I’m holding them to unfair standards you can say, because that’s the only path I see towards winning a pennant with the was the pitching staff is currently constructed.

2nd straight time Busch is doubled off first on a line out to 1B to end the inning. Come on

To quite probably the worst player on the field.

Tommy Edman career wRC+: 100

He's been an alright hitter over his career, but let's not act like he's a star. I don't expect April Carson Kelly going forward. But I also don't expect black hole Carson Kelly going forward. The likely outcome is like a 90-95 wRC+ Carson Kelly which is just fine from the catcher position.

But I also don't expect the Cubs to get an 44 wRC+ at 3b like they got before Matt Shaw returned to the MLB roster either. So it'll balance out.

I don't disagree, they could certainly use some pitching. But I think you're overselling the offensive issues here. The Cubs have a good offense.

Carson Kelly is also not a career .100 hitter, so he's going to have a bounce as well.

It not pitch count anymore, it time they face the order and unless you're a top starter, you're not gonna get a 3rd time against good lineups.
