I know people were saying Abbot was serving up hittable pitches that we weren't capitalizing on but is it possible he was just really good today?

I don't know an awful lot of those pitches where right in the middle of the plate, he wasn't painting the corners.  I think the Cubs have more problems with soft tossers.

This offense better wake the hell up. 11 runs in 4 games. If not for playing the Rockies, they could very easily be on a 4 game losing streak.

But they aren’t.

Yes, but you know my point was they are playing ****** and got bailed out by playing a historically ****** team.

Today sucked ass but I’m not worried about the offense. Same people complaining right now are prolly the same people who thought the Cubs had an incompetent bullpen a month ago. Happy to keep rolling in 1st place through the ebbs and flows.

Maybe there is another factor common to those games besides the bad opponent.  One that might've played a part in the Rockies only scoring 5 runs in 3 games too.

Neither am I, primary worry is the starting pitching, bullpen has been solid and will not be the problem.

Like many have said Rea is terrible and the Cubs have gotten what could out of him as a starter.  He's really the weak link in the current rotation, Brown, at least, has the potential to get better.  Horton will probably improve, Boyd, Shota and Tallion are solid, Rea just flat out sucks.  One upper tier MOR or TOR is what's needed at TDL.

Yes, the pitching was good the offense was not. It's like you're all trying to miss the original point on purpose. "The offense better wake the hell up" is what i prefaced the whole argument with.

Busch should start tomorrow, Lodolo has reverse splits is getting hit harder by LHB'ers.  Someone tell Craig.

Except Counsell didn't start him last weekend against Lodolo, and Lodolo had reverse splits then, too.

Turner had another hit today of a lefty, and Buschy came in at got a PH RBI today. Counsell will go with the same tomorrow.

Today is going to be more annoying when the Cubs take the next two games

If the Cubs win the next two, I will care very little about today's game come Sunday afternoon.

I know you're correct, I do believe most of us would start Busch.

Same here, win 2 of 3 and everything will be alright.  Tomorrow is key, they get that one, I think they'll beat Martinez on Sunday.  Although he's the type of guy that has been giving them fits - soft tosser, keeps the ball down, lives on the corners, he's a better version of Rea - I like the Cubs chances.

I, for one, am fine with Turner starting. He has actually had a pretty good May. I would understand if Counsell went with Busch too. But I think people make too big a deal of Turner playing for Busch.

A 97 win team would exceed everyone’s wildest expectations. In your mind, how do they lose the other 65 games in a way that doesn’t trigger this kind of panic?
