Never liked LaRussa, but he always spoke about his aim to take 2 out of every 3 in a series. That is ultimately what I want to see.

Winning series should always be a teams goal, so far they're 1-1-1 in their first 3

Shaw went 2 for 5 with a walk yesterday, and has reached base 8 times in the last 5 games

Against the A's and one of those hits yesterday was weakly hit and lucky to fall in.  He also had an error yesterday, 3 on the season.

Problem is the other options aren't exactly great.  I just don't think he looks comfortable at all.

Sure, I guess.  I mean the goal should she be, as a manager, to say, we are going to win every game.  Is there a real strategy there to give up the second game of a 3 game series to maybe take the third?  Or is just easy speak to say beating someone is a series is cool for you fans?

Dusty used to put out forefit Sunday lineups on the regular. Not sure what the strategy was there.

Morgan looked like arse in the 9th yesterday.  He's officially the mop-up guy for now.

Yes, he did, once Brasier is ready to go, will he be the one to go?  Don’t know if Morgan has any options left.

Shaw is fine. You don’t send a guy down after 9 games when you expect him to be the everyday 3rd baseman. It isn’t like he is 0-30. He is fine, especially since coming back to the states. I think Sandberg was 1-31 to start his rookie year, AND he wasn’t as highly rated a rookie. And the Cubs stayed with him. Shaw is taking his walks, hitting ok and running the bases well. Yes, his defense has to be better. But no reason to be sent back to AAA. If the Cubs thought he was ready to handle major league pitching this spring, nothing that has happened so far should have them changing their mind after 9 game.

He didn't like walks, they clogged the base paths and he batted Juan Pierre/Neifi Perez more than anyone should be allowed and keep their job.

Counsell and David Ross are infinitely better managers than Baker or Maddon.  Being liked by players isn't enough.

The Cubs have 4 errors on the season, which have resulted in a total of 1 unearned run. The most forgivable errors are ones that don't cost runs.

1. The Athletics aren't good mind you, but they're not some historically bad fodder like they were two years ago. They're your standard "not great" teams. They're much better than standard Triple-A teams, and yet he had a very good series. He also saw their two best SP's in Springs and Severino. Discounting them like this is...silly. C'mon.

2. His two hits on Wednesday had an expected BA of .940 and .880. They were not "lucky to fall in", it would have been very unlucky for them to be outs.

He probably doesn't look comfortable. He's played nine major league baseball games. He's seeing each pitcher for the first time, and has faced Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Jeremy Springs, L:uis Severino, Zac Gallen, Merril Kelly, Mason Miller...he's facing some guys who have ridiculous stuff. He's not going to look comfortable against these guys by going and facing "Random Triple-A pitcher #9" for three more weeks, either. The way you gain comfort against those guys is seeing those guys. This is what rookies look like

He's running a 126 wRC+,, a 23% K-ate, a 16% BB-rate, and a .240/..367/.400 line since coming back Stateside, where he's presumably fully healthy now and past an oblique injury. How much more comfortable should he look? We don't need to litigate whether or not he belongs because he had a good series against just the A's, or every other series. There will be ups and downs. He is a rookie. But he doesn't look like he's getting crunched by MLB pitching, and while he's certainly not fully comfortable yet, he's held his own.

Look we just need to keep him in Iowa until he can prove he looks comfortable as a major leaguer. That's just how you do things.

Normally I might agree but...

They really don't have another solid option for 3B and the offense around him are clicking right now, so there really no pressure on him to perform right now to where they can allow him to struggle a bit and let him find himself at this level, if he still hitting 200 and striking out a third of his AB come mid may and he looks like he needs to go down and work on somethings, then they should do it then.

Pretty sure, actually, I am positive that was sarcasm by squally. Kind of sad you agreed with it.

I just dont think he's ready yet, he only had 150 PA in Iowa and less then 600 overall between AA and AAA.

I just think he could of used a little more time in Iowa and brought up later in season,  and they likely would of done that had they gotten Bregman or had someone else worthwhile to start at 3B now over Workman or Berti.

Was Bregman signing a 6 wk contract or something?

If they got Bregman,  Shaw would of stayed down all or most of the season and the choice would of been whether or not to trade Hoerner at the deadline if Shaw was more then ready to go.
