My meatballest baseball opinion is that blowouts like last night are bad actually because the team "uses up" all their BABIP for several days.

Prove me wrong Cubs!

I got myself into a bit of a mental pickle (not even stoned!) thinking about the version of Dansby that hits 25 home runs is very valuable and how it's great that he already has two, but that it's not great in that one came in a loss and the other came in a blow out win, and so were we wasting some of his (finite) offensive performance...and then around and around until I was ready to completely denounce WAR and probably statistics in general besides WPA. And then I snapped out of it, but, yes, I get the feeling.

Rest easy, Dansby is getting at least 30 with the torpedo bat!

This is a matchup that should favor the Cubs LHH's - Tucker, Busch, Happ, PCA. Severino was not good last year against lefties, with a much worse FIP, xFIP, and HR/FB% against them. Might be a good day to get Gage Workman a second start if you'd like, as well. Severino isn't so good against RHP that anyone should feel it necessary, but stocking lefties is probably not a bad plan.

You don’t see too many good skullets anymore. There’s a market for it.

we used to be a proper country and that's all there is to it

Kyle Tucker is really horsefeathers good isn’t he?  There’s Ohtani, Soto, Judge a couple other players and Tucker, going to suck when the Cubs don’t re-sign him.

Counsell seems to be giving Shaw as many opportunities as possible (unlike how he pulled Busch every time a lefty took the mound)

Suarez don't just hit big homers against the Cubs, he just hit a go ahead Grand Slam in the 8th Against Leiter and the Yankees, with 2 outs and 2 Strikes

Workman should be in there IMO

Can make a good argument yeah.  Especially with the glove and Steele.

Hard to overstate the impact Tucker has on the team. Not just in elevating the lineup as a whole but in making the games watchable lol. Everything looks a lot more exciting with a true star in there
