Cub players involved

Reads like those players have offered to play, but they haven't been selected yet.

If you're the Cubs, do you tell Zambrano that he cant play?

If I'm smart I don't let him.... If i'm the Cubs I don't care.

I don't think that's an option for teams.

A lot of people in this thread are worried about injuries to key players that would effect their regular season... but ... would it be wrong to hope that Macias and Neifi get injured?

After hearing Bob Watson on MLB XM 175, it seems that teams may have some say involving their players' participation, but not the final say.

Thats how I understood it as well.

As an exhibition, I think this is a really great idea. It works on the same principle that made soccer such a popular sport worldwide. I do, however, hope that this is never seen as anything more than an exhibition.

On a side note, I don't think the American team stands a chance.

I'm going....

to pay no attention to it whatsoever.

After this post, right?

I'd like to go but the holidays and season tickets are eating up all my disposable income at the moment. Hopefully, some tickets will be available in the springtime, especially if Japan and Cuba both make the semifinals.

I'm interested in it. Can anyone recommend a good site for it? I *can* actually :google: , but with so many knowledgable folks here ...

If Big Z is pitching, I'm interested. The Venezualan team should have some SICK pitching.

Yeah, I realized how dumb it was after I wrote it. But hey, I haven't slept much recently. Or maybe I've slept too much. I don't remember.

Venezuela's confirmed starting staff:

Big Z, Santana, Freddy Garcia and Escobar

Closer: K-Rod.

Sick indeed.

I'm psyched, and plan to attend as many games as possible in San Juan..

I hope our team does well, but more than anything I hope the Cubs come through this unscathed.

Ditto, Especially Z. If Neifi gets hurt or something, oh well, but as long as Aramis, Prior, Z and Lee come through ok, I'll breathe easier.

You know someone's going to turn up hurt.

How are they going to get around blowing MLB players who have contracts to play for REAL TEAMS?

Yeah, I know it's an exhibition but I'm sure some of these guys will push it just a little. They're competitors and some of them won't want to be seen as losers in front of their countrymen. I'm not saying all of them will push hard, but some might.

This is a freaky idea if you ask me.

I would love to go see this! In fact, I'm going to try and go.

I'm intrigued by the whole thing.

However, I can only echo the sentiments hoping the Cubs come through unscathed. Surely, though, the same is the hope of every sporting event. Nobody wants to see players get injured, at any level of any sport.

I just bought tickets to the three games at Petco. Pretty cheap, actually. Any chance there could be an informal NSBB gathering in San Diego?

I actually considered getting tickets to the Orlando games instead, just to make sure I saw the Dominican team. They could very well be the greatest team ever assembled in any sport: A-Rod, Pujols, Manny, Papi, Vlad, Soriano, Tejada, Pedro, Colon, etc.

Whoa.
