There's another video on twitter of Caleb nailing the drill also.  Not gonna share it because I can't find on BlueSky but yeah training camp video.

i am in danger of becoming a Bears Fatalist and just see nothing really working or mattering and the team will just be mediocre-to-bad with flashes of competence every once in a while like a 2001 or 2018 season, but hell, I really do hope that Johnson can break the Bears Spell.

It's just so strange to me that in a season with a hundred things to be optimistic about, this is the one where the fans and media seem overwhelmingly negative.

It really sounds like Trapilo could take the LT position. That would be pretty insane to have 4 new starters.

Jones might be better suited for swing tackle anyway

If someone people described as a generational QB and someone described as  the hottest head coaching prospect in several years/offensive mastermind can’t figure it out, yeah it’s gonna be very difficult to get excited about the Bears for a while.

i feel decently confident that its gonna work out though

A great QB can make a mediocre team better. A great coach can make a bad team mediocre. A GM can ruin both by not building an infrastructure to support them. The Bears are trying but I’m not sure Poles is accomplishing it.

videos of Caleb missing a target from 10  yards in training camp doesnt really bother me. my guess is he had a hangover or some dumb thing. Its training camp and vastly different from staring down a 330 lb dt while finding an open reciever at NFL game speed, and hes done that fine in the past.

Caleb and a lot of the starters not playing on Sunday. Seems odd.

It's been a mixed bag in the first week. Burrow played, Jackson didn't. No Hurts for Philly. Geno threw 3 passes for Vegas. No starters in the HoF game

It's really not.  The starters will get the bulk of the work in a somewhat controlled environment in the joint practice Friday and not playing in the game after going through one of those has kind of become the norm these days.

My kids have been asking me to take them a game for a year. I picked a Sunday preseason so its not a big deal to leave at halftime. Now, Im debating even going with it supposed to be over 90 degrees

Don't we have joint practices with the Bills next week? Are they gonna sit that game too?

Overall I'd prefer Caleb plays a series or two but I'm not flipping out about it.   I know other Bears QBs have looked rusty after limited preseason playing time, but they were coached by Nagy and Eberflus.  I trust Ben Johnson to have his players ready to go until he gives me a reason not to trust him.

The preseason exists only to make money these days. Teams are not using it the way it was intended (which fine, that's up to them). I wouldn't spend a dime to go see 4th stringers

Are joint practices kind of a new thing? I feel like I never heard about them until recently. Seems like it would be kind of hard to navigate because why would you want to give more scouting opportunities to opponents? (Though I assume you almost never have joint practices with teams that are on your schedule that year)
