I'm encouraged that the front office was able to see that the interior O-line was a disaster and address it immediately this offseason.

Less so that it took like 3 offseasons for this, but maybe they were enamored with the hope of Jenkins for too long, I dunno.

If I am not badly mistaken but is Thuney and Jackson both LG? I know Jackson has played some C and Thuney has played LT but both were acquire to be guards. Does it matter who plays were or is there a preference?

I don’t think a luxury pick is a real thing. The bears need impact players and can use one of them at a variety of positions.

Mayyyyybe you could call a punter in the 4th a luxury pick, but I just call it a dumb pick under any circumstances.

I like this.

Is Pass Block Win Rate the ESPN statistic that had the Bears in the top 10ish last year?

It probably doesn’t matter but I’d lean toward letting the better of the two choose where he’s most comfortable let the other guy adjust

I find it interesting that the Chiefs are trading us a pro bowl OL right after getting curb stomped in the Super Bowl because their OL sucked

I have the same thoughts, immediately went to what's wrong with him?  Is just age? He's, 32, will be 33 in November, does he have another year in him?  On the other hand, I do not believe the Bears are done with the OL, they're going to sign someone in FA along with a draft pick or two.

Sure the headline isn’t great but he is a guard that was forced into playing tackle and he struggled there.

he’s also a highly paid guard and they franchised their younger better guard and needed to make room.

it makes sense why KC would look to move an older expensive guard when they have extremely highly paid linemen elsewhere and a qb on a post SB winning contract.

he’s better than anybody that played in the interior of the bears line last year and that is what matters. Chicago needs him and can afford him while KC cannot afford him and have a better guard on the roster.

Yea I think KC is making the right move and it's still about as good as Chicago can expect to do also to improve their interior on a short term basis.  But the absolutely need to develop their own Trey Smith's who they're tagging in 4 years and disappointing some other sad sack franchise.

Like I'd rather have Trey, but that's not the reality of the situation (though reportedly Poles did make offers for Smith before pivoting to Thuney).

I thought it bad idea to spend a load on Smith, I'd rather they do what they're currently doing.  Center is next, it has to addressed, if not Dalman, then the next best FA center.

I have no issue with Thuney. He’s older, but that only means the Bears can take a chance on developing a draft pick to play guard. Hes also been part of 4 SB, and if it’s one thing this team needs its leadership by someone who’s been deep in the playoffs. I don’t think the roster has anyone like that otherwise

but, again, what about Bosa? His production has been down the last few years but he’s only 28-29 years old. What would be a good contract for him? 1 year prove it?

I wasn’t worried that Thuney was cooked, just thought it odd that a team would offload a player they seemingly couldn’t afford to lose

They traded a player they couldn’t afford
