There were 5 Bears defenders around the receiver at the 2 yard line and nobody near the guy standing in the end zone.

Yup, the only guy who could actually beat you on catch was the only one uncovered

It is when Washington now holds the tie breaker in a game that will likely have huge wild card implications

🤷‍♂️ we’re in the hardest division in football and we’re gonna have a very difficult path to the playoffs anyway. It’s ok! The team, and Caleb Williams, aren’t at the level where easily making the playoffs is a sure thing. It is what it is.

Does this game change your mind that the Bears drafted the right guy #1?

No.

caleb sucked and they lost in brutal fashion. pretty much worse case scenario other than injury

Caleb sucked and then he didn’t suck. And they lost the game on a really fluke play. It’s fine.

It’s the 7th game of the season, brother.

Who cares what game of the season it is? We’ve had 1 good season in the past 13 years, and that ended in an incredibly painful fashion as well. We’ve been waiting for years to feel something. We get that something, that one amazing come from behind win we surely don’t deserve but we get it right as we are starting to feel positive emotions about the team again. And it’s taken away in the cruelest way possible.

obviously everything is still on the table, we’ll survive and play the next game and it will be fine but that still doesn’t take away from the dagger to the heart that was. Our pain as bears fans is usually a dull ache. This was pure pain.

yes I’m being dramatic but that’s how I cope with sports heartbreak. That horsefeathers hurt.

It's hard to say.  I think Daniels is a better QB on multiple levels right now, BUT I'm not sure he is going to be able to sustain that over a long career.  Williams may eventually end up being the right choice.

I guess I just didn’t see this season as a make or break year and the predictions that we should expect 10+ wins as a bit too optimistic from the beginning. I have a well of patience for what this whole Caleb Williams project is going to take and as this game part of the story of his first season, I’m still pretty pleased about where we’re headed.

The universe doesn’t work this way, of course, but I’d rather they get this kind of flukey loss out of their system this year than next, I guess lol

Daniels played the game with his ribs having gone through a blender...I think it ssafe to say hes better

Daniels is having the better season but I would take Caleb's career over his.

One fluke hail mary doesn't change that.  The Bears probably didn't deserve to win this game anyway.  It sucks how it all went down.  I think the biggest issues are coaching and the offensive line.

Daniels looks to be the better QB, but no one had him graded out better than Caleb. And that’s basically keeping Daniels out of the end zone until the last play while the Bears scored two TDs.

I can think of 3 Bears seasons since 2008 that ultimately were altered by one very bad painful improbable loss: 2008 (Matt Ryan leads 11 second FG drive), 2012 (Russell Wilson last second TD drive then gets the ball 1st in OT and scores a TD), 2013 (Trestman tries a 49 yard FG in OT on 2nd down). All 3 of those seasons the Bears missed the playoffs by 1 game.

This is how I cope, I’m sure there’s plenty you can rebuttal about those seasons or this game not being a big deal. I get it. Still sucks

The fact the Bears came back at all after that hot garbage first half is a bigger takeaway than the final score

for me the crushing loss is the biggest takeaway

god damn that stung

I know one of the national analysts who comes on The Score has been saying from the beginning that Daniels was the top QB in the draft.

Well then there was one. But Williams was the consensus #1 pick. Just goes to show that no one knows how to really pick QBs. With that said, it’s hard to determine if Caleb has it with this line. He looked brutal for 3.5 quarters today and it wasn’t just bad o line play. He was jittery and erratic and has no accuracy on the deep ball.

Shaun King

He's a moron.

Not necessarily for that hipster hot take, mind you (he also had Brian Thomas Jr. as the #1 WR in the draft - he's been v good, but no).  He's just a moron.

Look at it this way. They were outplayed most of the game. They did not deserve to win. The way it played out was incredible and spectacular.

Shake it off and get better.

To do that after all the dumb horsefeathers he did during the rest of the game, too.
