Chicago managed 1 quarter of respectable offense in their first three games, finally discovering Kmet’s usefulness and Odunze’s ability. They are one of the worst passing teams in the again, bottom of completion %, yds/att, TD/Int and sacks. They are okay on short distance yardage and abysmal at long throws, with the exception of completed but wholly unsuccessful Hail Mary attempt.

They also can’t run the ball for horsefeathers.

All of that is fine in the long term development of Caleb Williams but not good for the team’s chances to compete in the near term. And with a terrible coaching staff regularly making bad decisions this team could be in for a really disappointing season that should result in a house cleaning (but likely won’t).

The defense is good but can’t win games on its own when not playing basement dwellers. Hopefully the offense can build on its 4th quarter success last week and pull off a win against a rams team coming off an upset win. If they lose the second of back to back very winnable games (bears -2.5) the Carolina game next week suddenly becomes must win. 1-4 with the back half of this schedule coming up would be a tall task.

Any mods who can give me a temp ban from the football threads?  The hyperfixation demons are kicking my ass

Send your resume to the Bears with one of your 739 line posts on here. They will hire you in a 2nd. They need someone with brains in Hallas Hall.

You've been decidedly less annoying this season than last, to your credit.

I'd PM Brock if you're serious about it.

While there's many things to be frustrated about, I believe not having to watch the hoppity, hop, hop, hitch, hitch, every week makes a big difference.

The people that are cracking me up are the Fields defenders coming out of the woodwork again because the Steelers are 3-0 with him starting.  Fields has played slightly above average and I don't believe has a TO this year, which is great.  But these people ignore that:

1) Fields has yet to lead the Steelers offense to more than 20 points in a game

2) Fields has led the Steelers to as many TDs as Caleb has the Bears (3)

3) Fields probably isn't doing this with Eberflus and the Bears (ok that's my opinion not fact)

4) Fields is going to be very expensive after this season and he's not necessarily putting up the numbers that would make someone excited to pay him as much money as he will likely get.

Is DVOA still a stat that people put any stock in?

Was just looking at their updated rankings after week 3...they have the Bears dead last in offensive DVOA, and there's a pretty big gap between them and Cleveland who is 31st.  Overall, they are ranked 24th in the league on the back of their 8th ranked defense.

https://ftnfantasy.com/dvoa/nfl/team-total-dvoa

Here's the bottom of the list sorted by Offensive DVOA rankings:

He threw a pick on Sunday. Tried to drill it in a tight window like 7 yards away and it bounced in the air and was picked by a defensive tackle, I believe. He has also fumbled 2 snaps, I don't think they lost either. IIRC, 1 was his fault, 1 wasn't

Found this funny.......Only QBs with no INTs are:

Josh Allen- early MVP favorite for 3-0 Bills

Then there's:

Jayden Daniels- a rookie not known for his accuracy who also leads the league in completion %

Joe Burrow- of the 0-3 Bengals, who look mostly terrible as a team and his arm looks weak

Jacoby Brissett- who is last in the league in passing yards per game for QBs who have started 3 games.

You just want things to click in place for the Bears and they never do. If they could run the ball as well as they did two years ago or even last year that would take some pressure off. They are constantly treading water up to their nose

It’s going to happen, just not in time frame we’d like, may take most of the season before Caleb, the offense and Waldron are clicking.

Crazy stat but Brissett is actually tied with Aaron Rodgers for the lowest career interception percentage of all time at 1.4%.  Obviously less inceptions is good but since guys like Tyrod Taylor and Gardner Minshew are also in the top 10, I'm not sure if its as telling of a statistic as it sounds like on the surface.

It's like this ritual where the Bears fans must be punished. I know we got a lot of nice things, mostly with the Caleb trade. But did we have to endure the worst offense in the league after three games? Did the OLine and OC have to perform at levels not good enough for the NFL? Did a former Bear QB (Red Rocket) have to walk into a job on week 3 and make the worst team in the league (and giver of our 2nd round pick in 2025) look like a playoff team? Granted, it was the Raiders they punched in the nads. Did Malik Willis have to be some kind of wonderful? Did Sam Darnold have to be so good that it makes their JJ McCarthy pick look uber stupid? Did Brisker have to run his mouth about daring the Colts to throw deep on them, thus allowing the inevitable deep pass td to Pittman because karma? Did Justin Fields have to go into Pittsburgh as the back up QB, but then is now 3-0 as what was supposed to be fill in starter while the Bears are 1-3? Did the oft-injured but talented WR Keenan Allen have to be more injured than talented to start the season? Do we have to have a chance to win on the last position in the two games we lost, and fail to make it happen?

With that said, I really hope we can win this one. I'm not feeling good about it AT ALL, however.

But, of course, things have to get real ****** before they improve, we're Bears fans we can't have anything good fast.

Byard and Kmet were honest about the team’s struggles, but Eberflus is mostly sunshine and rainbows. Can you begin to lose the locker room if a coach isn’t honest with where the team is at?

I think that probably depends a lot on what's being said in the locker room and very little on what's said to the media unless he's just throwing guys under the bus.

Did he mention that he was responsible for getting Caleb blown up leading to the sack fumble which more or less put the game out of reach?

If he did he should have thrown Waldron under the bus for leaving him one on one with a DE two weeks in a row.

He shouldn’t be 1:1 for max protect against a first round edge rusher. Kind of like how they had him running across the line to block Hunter 1:1 the week before.

Kmet had a very good game last week overall.

Eberflus threw Davis under the bus preseason, but that was just for Davis’ lack of effort. But you can’t be afraid to criticize a player for things other than lack of effort. Not saying Eberflus has to be a jerk, but just a little more honesty. You begin to question if he has a good grasp on what’s really happening.
