Well his xFIP indicated regression was coming. Lets hope they don’t regret not trading him at his highest value.

If you are aware that regression is coming, don’t you think other MLB front offices think the same? The reality is no team was probably willing to give up significant prospects, and the Cubs have a lot of uncertainty after Steele and Shota. Replacing Taillon in 2025 will likely cost significantly more in dollars/years than the 2/$34 left on Taillon’s deal.

I assume they have access to more data then we do and scouts watching every pitch etc. I saw a tweet that said scouts were raving about him. I think likely Jed just didnt want to pull the trigger

Probably because the offers matched his value, which isn't much.

You talk like missing out on trading Taillon at his high point is like the Cubs missed out on some high profile return. When in reality they are probably missing out on some 18 year old with moderate upside in rookie ball.

Someone told me the season was saved.

I was misinformed.

Rick Sutcliffe. Plenty of times the last few days.

So the Cubs have decided to be the punching bag for the rest of the NL Central? Alrighty then.

Pearson's ejection was stupid and the umpire knew it. As for Counsell, it took the TDL to uncorked some emotion. Better late than never.

So hold onto someone that probably going to suck more often then not over spending a few million more for another starter

Maybe they need Sutcliffe and his enthusiasm in the locker room to win games 🤷‍♂️😏😏

Send Rick in there to toss a few hand grenades of positivity around the room by telling everyone individually how great they are all playing.

What could possibly go wrong.
